Delivery of specialized technical support services for the planning, design, construction, operation, maintenance and use of building facilities, as well as project management support for construction/maintenance projects and architecture, interior design or engineering activities and for the implementation of various technical services programs in Correctional Service Canada (CSC) facilities.
Building facilities include, but are not limited to, the buildings and interior of the facilities, including site configurations, security features and capabilities, institutional facilities and infrastructure, parole offices and community correctional centres.
The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is the federal government department responsible for administering of a term of two years or more, as imposed by the courts. CSC is responsible for managing institutions of various security levels and supervising offenders under conditional release in the community.

The intent of this process is to identify qualified candidates for current and anticipatory staffing needs for Project Officer, Facilities Planning positions with Correctional Service Canada – Kingston, Ontario.
Staffing needs include permanent (indeterminate), and temporary (term) employment opportunities.

EDUCATION
• Graduation with a diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in Civil Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electromechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Power Engineering Technology or Architectural Technology or an acceptable combination of education, training, and experience*
*Experience in the field of construction or project management
EXPERIENCE
• Experience analyzing and interpreting documents related to building construction (i.e., shop drawings, specifications, sketches, blueprints, etc.)
• Experience managing building construction projects.
• Experience monitoring budgets and contracts in the construction industry.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in architecture or mechanical, electrical, civil engineering.
• Eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada with specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
• Eligibility for certification as an Architect in Canada with experience relevant to the duties of the position.
• Certified technician or engineering technologist from the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT).
• Certified Licensed Technologist from the Ontario association of Architects (OAA).
• Professional certification “Project Management Professional (PMP)” obtained from the Project Management Institute (PMI), or other professional designation related to project management issued by a recognized institution.
EXPERIENCE
• Experience using computer-aided drafting and design software (example: AutoCAD)
• Experience in providing technical advice and support to develop project proposals
• Experience working in a correctional environment

This selection process has four stages:
Stage 1 is the screening of applications, specifically the responses to the four (4) questions relating to the ESSENTIAL qualifications imbedded in this job advertisement. Résumés are considered a secondary source of information during screening.
Stage 2 consists of a take home written assessment.
Stage 3 consists of an interview which may be completed by MS Teams.
Stage 4 will be reference checks. Reference names will be requested during stage 3.
Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
