📌 TIPS FOR CANDIDATES: When responding to the selection questions, be sure to provide complete and detailed information about your experience. Do not assume that the selection board has prior knowledge of your background, qualifications, or work history. You must be specific and provide concrete examples/details for each element related to the experience, as applications will be assessed solely on the basis of the information provided. If you do not provide sufficient information, your application may be rejected.
📌 HOW TO RESPOND TO SCREENING QUESTIONS
When you apply to this selection process, you will be asked to answer screening questions related to the essential qualifications for education and experience, as well as asset experience qualifications. Your answers to these questions will be used as a primary source of information, and your résumé will only be used to validate the information provided. Failure to do so may result in your application being rejected.
• Provide all your answers in complete sentences.
• Each response must include concrete and specific examples that directly relate to the experience being assessed.
• Each example must include the date or period (WHEN) and location (WHERE) of the experience, the context of the situation, what you did (WHAT), HOW you did it, your specific role in the situation, and the result achieved.
• Focus on what you did. If you describe an experience gained within a team, make sure to distinguish your role from that of others.
• Simply listing your duties or stating “see résumé” is not sufficient.
📌 How will you contact us?
We will contact you by email or through your GC Jobs account. Please ensure that you have provided a valid email address and that your account accepts messages from unknown senders. It is your responsibility to regularly check your inbox, junk mail, and GC Jobs account to stay informed of any updates regarding this pool.
📌 What is a pool and how does it work?
A pool is a continuous selection process. It remains open over a long period of time. Hiring managers can draw from the pool at any time to meet current or anticipated staffing needs.
📌 Why was my application automatically rejected upon submission?
To be entered into the pool, you must meet the essential qualification(s) at the time of application. If you receive a message stating “Application rejected at prescreening” immediately after submitting, you likely answered “No” to one or more of the screening questions related to essential qualifications. If this was in error, you can retrieve and modify your application to correct your responses.
📌 What does “Included in inventory” mean?
Once your application is officially in the pool, your status may display “Date of results communication: Included in inventory.” Please note this message is automatically generated by the system. It means your application could be reviewed by hiring managers. You will be informed if your application is selected for consideration in a staffing process derived from this inventory.
📌 What happens when my application expires?
Your application will remain in the pool for 90 days. Twelve days before expiry, a notice will appear in the “My jobs” menu of your account. To confirm your interest and renew your application, click the “Renew my application” link.
📌 How do I update my personal information?
You can update your information in the “Personal information” section under the “My jobs” menu in your account. Updating your contact information ensures we can reach you if your application is selected for a staffing process from this pool.
