- Payment will be based on the federal government’s student rates of pay.
- Working hours are part-time and will be agreed upon between the hired candidate(s) and their supervisor. Work must be performed from Monday to Friday. Start/end times are flexible.
- Hybrid work model: must be able to report in person to a Canada Water Agency office (locations across Canada) a minimum of 60% of regular schedule, unless eligible to an exception, in accordance with the common hybrid work model for the Federal Public Service.
The intent of the process is to staff one (1) student position for the completion of a Master's or PhD program with a research component at a recognized post-secondary institution with a specialization in or related to fresh water. The work location will depend on the geographical location of the candidate and the Canada Water Agency offices.
A pool of qualified candidates will be created as a result of this process for future opportunities.

EDUCATION:
- EDU1: Full-time enrollment in a master's or PhD program with a research component at a recognized post-secondary institution with a specialization in or related to fresh water.
- EDU2: Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- This includes students with physical or emotional disabilities deemed to have full-time status by their academic institution. EXPERIENCE:
- EXP1: Experience* in planning and conducting research and analysis.
- EXP2: Experience* summarizing complex issues and presenting complex information to non-specialists either in writing or verbally.
* Experience can include coursework, volunteer work, paid work, etc.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
A-EXP1: Experience* in one of the following areas of policy work: development, analysis, innovation, experimentation, or other.
A-EXP2: Current involvement in a research project focused on water security** or water economics***.

**Water security is defined by the United Nations as “the capacity of a population to safeguard sustainable access to adequate quantities of and acceptable quality water for sustaining livelihoods, human well-being, and socio-economic development, for ensuring protection against water-borne pollution and water-related disasters, and for preserving ecosystems in a climate of peace and political stability”.
***Water economics includes but is not limited to valuing water and the hydrological cycle, valuing water as a common good, water conservation, and fair allocation of water resources.
