Join the Centre for Health Data Integration and Direct Measures (CHDIDM) at Statistics Canada! If you have an adventurous spirit and enjoy travel, this is the position for you. During collection, you may be on continuous travel status, travelling across Canada as part of a survey collection team who moves to a new Canadian city every few weeks gathering direct health measures. EDUCATION:
- Stream 1 -
Degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, Physical Education, Nursing Science or another specialization relevant to the position from a recognized postsecondary institution.
- Stream 2 -
Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in medical laboratory technology or a medical laboratory assistant program.
EXPERIENCE:
- Stream 1 -
- EXP1. Recent* experience in performing direct health measures on a variety of populations such as adults, children, individuals with physical or mental limitations or the elderly following standardized procedures.
- EXP2. Experience in setting up, calibrating and maintaining physical measures testing equipment.
- EXP3. Experience in interpreting direct health measures test results and explaining the results to the general public.
- Stream 2 -
- EXP1. Recent* experience in performing direct health measures on a variety of populations such as adults, children, individuals with physical or mental limitations or the elderly following standardized procedures.
- EXP2. Recent* experience working in a laboratory processing and analyzing biological specimens such as blood and urine;
- EXP3. A minimum of twelve (12) months experience performing human phlebotomy following standardized procedures on a variety of populations such as children, the elderly and individuals with physical or mental limitations.
*Recent is defined as having performed the duties within the last five (5) years.

ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS:

• Maintenance of a valid First Aid certification including CPR-C and AED provided by Statistics Canada.
• Transport of Dangerous Goods (TDG) certification for class 6.2, within 3 months of the start of employment.
- Stream 2 -
WHMIS certification, within 3 months of the start of employment
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Stream 1 and 2 -
• Reliability Status security clearance.
• The employee will be required to report to the Examination Centre location and must be available for continuous travel across Canada. The Examination Center typically relocates changes location to a new collection site approximately every six weeks. Staff are generally granted a weekend home visit approximately every three weeks for a total of four days, including travel time. While the reporting location will be the Examination Center, there may be periods, depending on operational requirements, where the employee will be required to report to another work location.
• Must be willing to work shifts (evenings, weekends), statutory holidays, and overtime based on operational needs.
• Must possess a valid Canadian driver’s license.
- Stream 1 -
Maintenance of a valid certification through the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology as a Certified Personal Trainer ® (CPT) or Certified Exercise Physiologist ® (CEP); must be CSEP certified within 6 months of start of employment, a registered nurse or another certification relevant to the position from a recognized organization.
- Stream 2 -
Maintenance of a valid certification from the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science as a Medical Laboratory Technologist/Assistant or the equivalent provincial certification as a Medical Laboratory Technologist/Assistant.
