We are looking to grow our team with individuals who can navigate technical and non-technical challenges on complex contaminated site projects. Duties generally fall into the following broad categories:
60% managing consultant teams, including reviewing/interpreting technical reports and managing finances
30% stakeholder management and coordination
5% travel
5% training

The intent of this process is to fill 1 (one) English essential immediate vacancy on an indeterminate (permanent) basis in Ottawa, Ontario.
A pool of partially or essentially qualified candidates may be established through this process and may be used to staff identical or similar positions at the Department of National Defence.

❗ Essential qualifications are qualifications that you must meet in order to be considered for the position. This means that when you apply, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience listed below.
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION
EDU1. Graduation with a degree** from a recognized post-secondary institution in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, aeronautical engineering, geological engineering, naval architecture or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
Note: **Unless it is otherwise specified (e.g., Master’s degree), the term “degree” refers to a baccalaureate as established by educational authorities.
OR
Occupational Certification:
OC1: Eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada with specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the position (some positions may require eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada without regard for the field of specialization).
Note: The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE (All positions):
EX1. Experience conducting environmental site assessments and environmental site remediation.
EX2. Experience collaborating with federal or provincial or territorial regulatory authorities responsible for the environment.
EX3. Experience preparing written correspondence as it relates to contaminated sites, which may include but is not limited to: Scopes of Work, Requests for Proposal, project synopsis reports and/or technical reports.
EX4. Experience managing consultant teams or contractors to conduct environmental site assessments and environmental site remediation.

*Significant experience refers to the depth and breadth of the experience (i.e., scope and degree of exposure to various scenarios) normally acquired with at least 7 years of relevant work experience.

ASSET EXPERIENCE
AE1. Experience conducting human health and ecological risk assessments associated with federal contaminated sites.
AE2. Experience managing projects in a mixed civilian/military environment
AE3. Experience in the assessment and management of PFAS (Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) contaminated sites.
AE4. Experience managing Unexploded Explosive Ordnance (UXO) surveys or UXO clearance projects.
AE5. Experience conducting field activities in support of environmental site assessment and environmental site remediation.
AE6. Experience working on contaminated sites in the North (Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut).
