Stream 1 - IT-02 - IT Analyst, Software Solutions (IT Analyst, SS) will be responsible for:
• Conducting research, analysis, development, testing and implementation of changes to NRCan’s software solutions and services.
• Developing, testing, implementing and maintaining software solutions on various technology platforms and supporting quality assurance activities.
• Supporting the development of NRCan’s work processes, standards and guidelines.
• Working closely with geoscientists to support seamless (in and out) flow of geoscience data by assessing data management systems from a frontend accessibility for end-users, while adhering to acceptable user defined performance.
• Updating skillsets and staying current with the latest trends and advancements in the IT industry.
Stream 2 - IT-02 - IT Analyst, Software Solutions (IT Analyst, SS) will be responsible for:
• Maintenance and redevelopment of in-house applications.
• Prepares work plans, supports the evaluation of proposals.
• Participates in the selection, installation, configuration, testing and modification of development tools and ensures adherence to programming standards.
• Analyses, defines and documents client requirements and recommends solutions
• Provides technical advice, application assistance and delivers training sessions to internal and external clients.

NRCan has transitioned to a hybrid work environment which offers employees the opportunity to telework and work from the designated work location, subject to operational requirements. Both positions will currently require an in-office presence for a minimum of three (3) days a week.
The intent of this selection process is to staff one (1) determinate (temporary) position (Stream 1) and one (1) indeterminate (permanent) position (Stream 2) located at 3303 33 Street NW, Calgary, Alberta, and will require an onsite presence in the GSC-Calgary offices.

EDUCATION (Stream 1 & Stream 2):
► Graduation from a two-year program of study from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.
Note:
1. Indeterminate incumbents in the IT group on December 9, 2021, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standard based on their educational, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the IT group.
2. Indeterminate incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above are deemed to meet the minimum education standard based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the IT group.
3. At the manager's discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience may serve as an alternative to the minimum education stated above. EXPERIENCE (Stream 1):
► Recent* and Significant** experience in developing front-end web applications using Angular.
► Recent* experience developing using APIs (Application Programming Interface).
► Experience in using CSS (Cascading Style Sheets).
EXPERIENCE (Stream 2)
► Recent* and Significant** experience in developing Desktop Applications using .NET
Recent* experience is defined as approximately three (3) years of experience within the last five (5) years
Significant** experience is defined as primary role based on the experience.

ASSET EXPERIENCE (Stream 1 & Stream 2):
► Experience working with Git versioning system.
► Experience using Azure DevOps.
► Experience in conceptualizing, designing and documenting user interfaces designs.
► Experience in developing with unit tests.
► Experience in developing from specifications.
ASSET EXPERIENCE (Stream 2):
► Experience developing web based applications.
► Experience in developing using APIs.
ASSET KNOWLEDGE (Stream 1):
► Knowledge of responsive web design using CSS (Cascading Style Sheets).
► Knowledge of RXJS (Reactive Extensions for JavaScript).
ASSET KNOWLEDGE (Stream 2)
► Knowledge of SQL.
► Knowledge of additional programming languages (Fortran, Python, Javascript).
