This position is responsible for a diverse workload that includes:
• Providing analysis and advice on, developing, and implementing local land use policies and plans to ensure land use aligns with broader regulatory, operational, and strategic objectives.
• Reviewing land use proposals, assessing compliance against policies, legal frameworks, and operational objectives, and providing recommendations for decision-making.
• Ensuring the integration of cross-functional, Indigenous, and stakeholder perspectives into land use policies, plans, and decisions.
• Integrating cross-functional, Indigenous, and stakeholder perspectives to ensure alignment of land use with broader land use goals.
• Planning, organizing, coordinating, and implementing practical components of land use initiatives or related programs. This includes executing engagement plans, facilitating research, and overseeing contracts.
• Planning and leading formal public and Indigenous engagement, analyzing results, and incorporating input into policies and strategies.
• Building and maintaining relationships with Indigenous Nations, public stakeholders, operators, and other partners.
• Preparing detailed reports, briefings, and other materials to support decision-making and policy implementation.
The position reports to the Manager of Integrated Land Use, Policy and Planning, and works closely with specialists in Banff and the other mountain national park field units.
This process may be used to create a list of qualified candidates to staff similar positions with various tenures, security levels or linguistic requirements in same or other parts of the country.

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in environmental science or studies, protected area management, land use planning, tourism studies, geography, public policy or in any other field relevant to the work to be performed, or equivalent combination of education and experience
EXPERIENCE:
EX1: Significant* experience supporting or leading the planning, implementation, and/or management of projects. This may include elements such as project coordination, contributing to implementation, or assisting with financial oversight.
EX2: Experience reviewing proposals against Parks Canada policies, regulations, or guidelines (e.g. Parks Canada policies, Canada National Park Act)
EX3: Significant* experience conducting research and analysis to solve problems and inform decision-making related to land use administration, resource management, or related areas. Experience can range from practical problem-solving to more formal analytical processes.
EX4: Experience contributing to the development of policies, tools, templates, or frameworks.
EX5: Significant* experience preparing clear and concise recommendations, reports, and presentations for decision-makers and diverse audiences.
EX6: Experience supporting or incorporating Indigenous engagement perspectives, with experience such as contributing to engagement efforts, integrating Indigenous considerations into work, or having knowledge of issues relevant to Indigenous Nations and engagement processes.
EX7: Experience coordinating or supporting financial management tasks such as tracking budgets or allocating financial resources.
*Significant is defined as experience acquired during three (3) or more years of relevant experience.
Preference given if experience is in the context of land use planning.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Willing and able to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial holidays, when required
• Willing and able to wear a Parks Canada uniform as required
• Willing and able to work and/or travel in varied terrain, weather conditions, isolated locations and by various means of transportation

• Obtain and maintain Reliability Status security clearance
• Possession and maintenance of a valid class 5 driver's license
