Intent of the process

This process will initially be used to staff two positions on an indeterminate basis at the Police Dog Service Training Centre in Innisfail, Alberta. A qualified pool of candidates will be established and used to staff these positions and similar positions with various tenures (i.e. indeterminate, term, deployment, acting, assignment and secondment).

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Information regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

EDUCATION
Successful completion of two years of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.*
*Proof of education will be required prior to appointment.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
• Experience providing administrative assistance*.
*Administrative assistance can include the following: coordinates and schedules appointments, meetings and teleconferences, prepare agendas and summary minutes, monitors and follows up on the status of initiatives and activities, conducts research and preparing reports, returns and correspondence, preparing reports, photocopying and scanning, maintaining office equipment.
• Experience in data entry.
• Experience in providing records management services such as indexing, cross-referencing, filing, retrieving, retaining, archiving or destroying data.
• Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (eg. Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
Experience providing financial support assistance.**
**Financial support assistance can include the following: monitors and maintains budget data and provides updates/reports, utilizing the Total Expenditure & Asset Management System (TEAM) as one working tool, verifies and processes expenditures and journal vouchers, maintains contingency fund to reimburse expenses, prepares and processes a variety of forms/transactions.

• Willing and able to work overtime, as required.
• Willing and able to travel for work and/or training purposes using various modes of transportation (including owned or leased government transport).

Conditions of employment

RCMP Enhanced Reliability Status (ERS) security clearance.

Those selected must meet and maintain the above condition of employment throughout their employment.
The process requires a Security/Reliability Interview, a field investigation in matters of credit/finances, education, employment, references, etc.

Preference

Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
