Duties

Duties may include the following:

• Developing and designing online and print promotional materials and content
• Creating a social media schedule and posting content for Banff Park Museum National Historic Site, Cave and Basin National Historic Site, and Rocky Mountain House National Historic Site
• Updating national historic site content and event listings
• Distributing promotional materials
• Assisting with the development of photo/video content
• Assisting in photo cataloguing, selection, and inventory
• Assisting with on-site promotions at Parks Canada events

Work environment

Join us this summer to promote three Parks Canada national historic sites in Banff National Park (Banff Park Museum NHS and Cave and Basin NHS) and Rocky Mountain House (Rocky Mountain House NHS). Work with a dynamic team of marketing professionals, and learn how Parks Canada uses promotional activities and social media to increase visitation to its places. You will have the opportunity to gain office experience, participate in marketing and sales activities and support special events.

Intent of the process

The results may be used in the future to fill other temporary student vacancies that may arise in the Banff Field Unit, in various locations, with full or part-time hours for various tenures, depending on status of the selected candidate.

Currently enrolled in a recognized post-secondary institution in a program leading to a degree or diploma; in a field related to marketing, communications, tourism, public relations, museum studies or other field closely related to the ones mentioned.

Proof of education will be required at time of interview.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE IN:

• Experience in event/activity coordination and promotion
• Experience and/or familiarity developing promotional content for the purpose of advertising or promoting on various social media channels
• Experience in working in a team-oriented environment

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:

The following qualifications may be applied and/or assessed because they are beneficial in carrying out the duties of the position. They may be used in screening, assessment or determining right fit for this selection process, so please describe how you meet any of the following criteria.

• Experience and/or familiarity working with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop
• Experience in writing copy for a website, business, or other organization
• Experience and/or familiarity creating and editing photos/videos

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Willing and able to work shifts, weekends, holidays and overtime
• Willing and able to travel to Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, including overnight (accommodation will be provided)
• Possession and maintenance of a valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license or equivalent

Conditions of employment

• Successful completion and maintenance of reliability security clearance
• Willing and able to wear a Parks Canada uniform and safety equipment
