Assessment accommodation

Dawson City is classified as an Isolated Post. As such, the successful candidate must meet all the conditions under the Isolated Posts and Government Housing Directive prior to appointment. In addition, the successful candidate will be entitled to an Isolated Post Allowance.

Important financial information:
• Isolated Post Allowances (Northern Allowance) ranges from approximately $16,135 - $26,892, which is based on if the employee has dependents.
• Vacation Travel Assistance is provided once a year for Dawson of approximately $1,370 for each eligible member of the household.

Duties

Provides administrative, financial, and operational support services for police officers and other employees at a Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) detachment. Provides front counter and telephone assistance, services and information to the general public.

Work environment

This position is located in a law enforcement environment which includes regular contact with uniformed and armed police officers.

Intent of the process

📌 This selection process will initially be used to staff one vacant, indeterminate position. A pool of qualified candidates inclusive of Public Service (PS) employees and Civilian Members (CM); may be established through this process to staff identical or similar CR-05/SPS-CK-05 positions on a temporary or permanent full-time basis.

Please note that an assignment appointment requires approval of your supervisor.

Should a CM be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to another category for the member.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Successful completion of two years of secondary school* or an acceptable combination of education, training or experience.

*Two years of secondary school is typically completion of grade ten.

Degree equivalency

EX1: Experience providing service to internal or external clients / general public, via telephone or in person.

EX2: Experience in the provision of administrative support services including two of the following: data entry, preparing correspondence, ordering office supplies, filing, or processing mail.

EX3: Experience in using computer applications including two of the following: databases, email, spreadsheets, and word processing.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

• Experience in maintaining a law enforcement database such as: Police Reporting Occurrence System (PROS) or Canadian Police Information (CPIC).
• Experience working in a law enforcement and/or legal environment.
• Experience liaising with court representatives or officials, or preparing court disclosure packages
• Experience in providing records management services such as indexing, cross referencing, filing, retrieving, retention, archiving or destroying data.

Willing and able to work in a busy police environment, including exposure to unsettling and/or graphic material.
Willingness and ability to work overtime, as required.
Willingness to relocate within 40 km of position location

Conditions of employment

Security Clearance: Royal Canadian Mounted Police Enhanced Reliability Status.
