This position will be part of a small Ottawa-based team responsible for managing translation requests, editing and proofing of final documents and ensuring quality of communications in both of Canada’s official languages. There is a wide range of materials and great variety in the work: everything from social media posts to cabinet-level policy documents. This position will require someone with great attention to detail.
We’re looking for a candidate who actively and independently maintains job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and maintaining professional networks. We’ll support you with up-to-date translation software and support for learning and training, as well as a welcoming and collegial atmosphere.

The intent is to staff one indeterminate position based in Ottawa. A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions at this group and level in the National Capital Region or elsewhere on the Prairies. This process may be used for various tenures (including but not limited to term and indeterminate appointments, internal assignments, secondments, deployments, acting appointments, casual), as well as various security requirements, language and conditions of employment.

Education:
• Graduation from a recognized university with a degree in translation or in a related field relevant to the position.
Experience:
• Experience in English/French translation of a variety of different products (i.e. communications products, minutes and agendas, HR bulletins, IT messages, ministerial correspondence, social media postings).
• Experience revising translated material to ensure that translations retain the meaning, feeling and content of the original material.
• Experience proofreading and performing quality control.
Asset Qualifications:
• Accreditation in translation.
• Experience in coordinating translation requests with suppliers.
• Experience in the use of the GCDOCS filing system.
• Experience in the use of machine translation, e.g. LogiTerm.
Bilingual - Imperative (CCC/CCC)
Information on language requirements
