Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to staff one two-year determinate position located in Mississauga, Ontario and one indeterminate position located in Hamilton, Ontario.

A pool of fully or partially qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions within Natural Resources Canada with various tenures (determinate period or indeterminate), various language requirements, various security requirements, various conditions of employment and for various locations.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:
Graduation with a university degree from a recognised post-secondary institution in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Chemical or Systems Design engineering, or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
1. Experience in the implementation of controls, data acquisition and mechatronic systems.
2. Experience utilizing microcontrollers, sensors, servo and stepper drivers in applied applications.
3. Experience with robotics programming and/or robotic controls.
4. Experience with CAD systems (eg. Solidworks, SiemensNX).

Information on language requirements

Knowledge:
1. Knowledge of the theories and principles of engineering related to design, instrumentation, controls and mechatronics.
2. Knowledge of API development for programming using C/C++ and/or phyton software.
3. Knowledge in research laboratory operations, Health and Safety requirements.

Abilities:
1. Ability to use hand tools and follow instructions for assembling mechatronics systems.
2. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
3. Ability to work with others.
