HOW TO APPLY:
You will be required to answer screening questions to demonstrate how you meet the Essential Qualifications (Education and all Essential Experiences).

When answering the screening questions, it is not sufficient to say that you have the required qualifications or to list your current or past responsibilities. Rather, you must provide concrete examples of tasks you have accomplished with significant details to explain the WHAT, WHEN, WHERE and HOW you acquired each qualification.

For each experience criteria, please provide the following information:

1- Name of the department or organization where the experience was acquired;
2- Title of the position occupied, group and level and the period(s) in which you performed the functions (M-Y to M-Y);
3- Specific details of tasks or projects demonstrating how the experience was acquired (Situation/Challenge, Tasks, Action and Result).

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff one MA-04 position and two MA-03 positions on an indeterminate basis, with a linguistic profile of English Essential and a Top Secret security clearance.

A pool of candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions within the RCMP in the National Capital Region on an indeterminate or specified period (including term, acting, or assignment) basis.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.

Education

MA-03 and MA-04:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in mathematics, statistics or operational research or with specialization in one of the physical, life or social sciences combined with an acceptable number of courses in mathematics, statistics or operational research at the level of a recognized post-secondary institution.
Notes:
1. An acceptable number of courses is normally 10 full courses or approximately 60 credits
2. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.

Degree equivalency

Experience

MA-03 and MA-04:
EX1: Experience preparing or contributing to the development of technical materials such as documentation, briefing notes, proposals, reports, and/or presentation decks.
EX2: Recent* experience working with programming languages applicable to Data Science such as Python (numpy, scipy, pandas), R, SQL, C/C#/C++.

MA-03:
EX3: Experience conducting research and analysis with large datasets and documenting the process.

MA-04:
EX4: Recent* and significant** experience conducting research and analysis with large datasets and documenting the process.
EX5: Recent* experience working with structured and unstructured datasets, relational and/or non-relational (noSQL) databases such as MySQL, Postgres, Neo4j, Elasticsearch, MongoDB, and Cassandra.

*Recent experience is defined as experience normally acquired within the last five (5) years.
**Significant experience refers to the depth and breadth of the experience associated with having performed a broad range of various, complex related activities which are normally acquired over a period of approximately two (2) years.

Education

MA-03 and MA-04:
AED: Graduation with Masters degree or above from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in mathematics, statistics or another specialty relevant to the data science position to be staffed and/or specialized training or certifications in data science or other areas relevant to the Data Scientist position being staffed.

Degree equivalency

Experience

MA-03 and MA-04:
AEX1: Experience working with statistical methodology applicable to data analytics and/or designing, developing, and validating supervised and unsupervised machine learning models, graph theory, social network analysis, and/or natural language processing.
AEX2: Experience developing data science applications and/or model testing and validation frameworks.
AEX3: Experience using data visualization applications or software such as Tableau, Power BI, SAS Visual Analytics, Kibana, Graphana, Gephi.
AEX4: Experience working in or in support of operational law enforcement.

MA-03:
AEX5: Experience working with structured and unstructured datasets, relational and/or non-relational (noSQL) databases such as MySQL, Postgres, Neo4j, Elasticsearch, MongoDB, and Cassandra.
