Location: Toronto, ON – Don Mills – Barber Greene (Onsite)

About the Role:

Global News Toronto is currently looking for an Associate Producer for a temporary full-time contract to join their team. Reporting to the Supervising Producer, the successful candidate will be responsible for chasing guests, producing segments, and creating content for a daily three-hour morning television program. The associate producer will also support the news record sessions and airing of the show. This is a Group 2 position under the current collective agreement.

You will contribute by:

• Pitching and chasing original and compelling stories for Global News Morning.
• Producing interview segments, including the set-up, focus, questions, and visual elements.
• Writing broadcast stories, teases, and headlines.
• Supporting the show producers by generating research that can be used in the execution of various news and interview segments.
• Monitoring all news sources and being on top of breaking news and developing situations
• Assisting in communicating with, and assigning, field crews.
• Supporting producers and anchors in the recording sessions and in the playout of the show.
• Lending support to other Global News properties.
• Other duties as required.

Skills and experience you will bring:

• A university degree or equivalent post-secondary education in a broadcast-related field.
• Two years of experience working in a newsroom environment, in an editorial capacity.
• Strong news judgement, with an ability to recognize, chase and help develop relevant news content.
• Strong news writing skills and excellent news judgement.
• The ability to make quick, informed decisions and handle the demands of multiple daily deadlines.
• Proficient in the use of online and social media tools, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and TikTok.
• Excellent communication skills, and a high level of comfort working independently.
• Flexibility to work overnights, early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
