About the Role:

Global News is looking for a dynamic Producer to work on the network morning show. Reporting to the Executive Producer, you will be responsible for aiding in the daily production of a live national morning television program. This is a Group 3 position under the current collective agreement.

You will contribute by:

  • Write and produce on-air content for the national morning show.
  • Create, chase, and produce guest and host segments.
  • Demonstrate strong editorial judgment.
  • Produce segments that are both in studio and those that require editing (junket interviews etc.)
  • Perform other duties as required including ability to backfill other team members.
  • In this role, you will be the backfill for the show’s Senior Show Producer when they are off and/or unavailable to take the show to air.
  • When backfilling the Senior Show Producer, you will lead the show’s early morning editorial call, collaborating with the senior team and hosts on that day’s Block A, overseeing its lineup along with its graphic elements, including Headlines and live news drop-ins.
  • You will also be responsible for timing out the show, ensuring that all editorial points are conveyed in all segments in that day’s lineup, including those segments involving sales integrations.
  • You will also vet the show’s lineup the night before to ensure that all necessary elements are reflected in the show lineup.
  • Work closely with all Corus teams promoting content on various TV radio, and online platforms.
  • Disseminate and amplify content on social media generated on the program.

  • This role will amplify social media content.
  • Display creativity in the use of production graphics and other story/guest enhancements as well as other visual elements.
  • Drive market-leading ratings performance through story selection and lineup choices.
  • Participate in pre- and post-show production meetings.
  • Ability to multi-task under extremely tight deadlines
  • Maximize distribution of content on all platforms

Skills and experience you bring:

  • A job-related degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution is required - Broadcast Media, Journalism and Communications.
  • The preferred candidate will have a minimum of three years’ experience producing news and lifestyle content, a proven ability in making editorial decisions, and be an innovator who is adept using of the latest production techniques and up to date on the leading-edge technology used by Global News
  • This position requires someone who is comfortable working independently with excellent communication skills.
  • They must be able to generate innovative content ideas to maintain viewer interest and improve our news programming.
  • They must be proficient in the use of online and social media tools, including Facebook, Twitter X, and Instagram.
