Ready to capture the very best of local news and events in Muskoka?

Cogeco's YourTV is searching for a dynamic Producer to drive end-to-end local programming by putting the community directly at the heart of the action! Behind the camera, you will take charge of production while passionately recruiting, coaching, and teaming up with a diverse crew of community partners and volunteers to create high-quality local content together.

In front of the camera, your videojournalism skills will shine as you report and anchor local programs, serving as our ultimate brand ambassador.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Lead the complete production cycle for local programming, ensuring alignment with company KPIs and regulatory standards. This role serves as a key brand ambassador, managing community relationships, and training and leading a diverse crew of volunteers and community partners to produce high-quality, local content.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • End-to-End Production Management : Leads all phases of production including Pre-Production (scripting, set/lighting design, talent booking), Production (directing studio, ENG, and mobile shoots), and Post-Production (editing, promo creation, and asset archiving).
  • Training & Talent Development : Recruits, orients, and coaches volunteer crews, co-op students, and interns. Identifies training opportunities to expand the technical and on air skills of community members while maintaining a positive and growth-oriented learning environment.
  • Community Relations & Social Media: Serves as the primary contact for community stakeholders and partners. Manages the local "YourTV" website and social media presence, engaging with the community to promote programming, events, and brand loyalty.
  • Safety & Vehicle Maintenance : Operates as a “competent person” regarding health and safety legislation. Conducts regular safety/circle checks on assigned vehicles, arranges maintenance, and ensures all equipment and production environments meet industry safety standards.
  • Branding & Administration : Ensures consistent application of company branding and logos. Maintains accurate departmental records, statistics, and traffic database entries (e.g., Broadview) to support operational planning and reporting.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • As part of their work, employees must take all necessary measures to ensure their own health and safety, and that of their co-workers and the public in general. They must use available personal protective equipment at all times, and comply with all Health & Safety instructions, guidelines, policies and procedures issued by the Company.
  • To support Cogeco’s ultimate goal of providing excellent service to current and potential customers, the incumbent must be constantly attentive and responsive to both external and internal customers’ needs and assist in the resolution of any issues or concerns in a timely and professional manner while ensuring that the solution meets the customer’s needs.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

ACADEMIC TRAINING

  • College Diploma or Degree in television production or a related discipline.

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 3 years in audio/video production; community television experience preferred.

SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

  • Technical Mastery: Advanced skills in camera technique, studio lighting, audio, graphics, and editing.
  • Videojournalism: Strong video storytelling skills with reporting and anchoring experience
  • Leadership: Strong coaching and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage diverse groups of volunteers and students.
  • Organization: Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task, meet conflicting deadlines, and resolve problems independently.
  • Requirements: Valid Ontario Class G driver’s licence;

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND VISUAL ACUITY

  • Physical ability to lift 20 kg and work at heights up to 5 metres.
