As the Senior Consultant, TEAM Central you will supervise a team that provides information support for all employee and manager HR inquiries. You will assist with the implementation of TEAM Central’s knowledge base, as well as provide operational and advisory support to the People & Equity Division. You will supervise the co-ordination, roll-out and delivery of programs to ensure that high levels of client service are met and issues are resolved in a timely, professional manner.

What will you do?

Reporting to the Manager, TEAM Central P&E, you will perform the following major responsibilities:

  • Manage the knowledge base and the TEAM Central website (internal and external).
  • Ensure that information in the knowledge base, including articles, job aids and guides are accurately captured and up to date.
  • Investigate and respond to inquiries escalated beyond the scope of the Inquiry and Advisory team.
  • Collaborate with the Centres of Focus (COFs), Strategic Communications and Divisions to ensure appropriate documentation/training is provided for the Inquiry and Advisory team.
  • Participate in ongoing collaboration with other areas within P&E and the COFs to ensure TEAM Central has relevant and current information in the knowledge base.
  • Liaise with operating divisions regarding proposed program changes and recommend proactive strategies to increase effectiveness and to support more efficient customer service procedures.
  • Participate in consultation with the P&E Managers, in the ongoing development and implementation of the customer service policies and procedures to ensure the continued provision of efficient service delivery.
  • Implement detailed plans and recommend policies/procedures regarding program specific requirements.
  • Keep informed on corporate initiatives and divisional activities within the City.
  • Make recommendations to assist the Manager, TEAM Central P&E in effective planning and service delivery.
  • Participate as a member of the management team to provide leadership, goal setting and proactive problem solving.
  • Supervise, motivate and train assigned staff of HR Consultants and Representatives, ensuring effective teamwork, high standards of work quality and organizational performance, continuous learning and innovation.
  • Provide ongoing coaching to employees to ensure compliance with established service standards and accepted practices.
  • Ensure that employees are provided with and use the appropriate equipment/material/procedures required to perform the assigned duties, in accordance with City and Divisional policies and applicable legislation.
  • Assign work and oversee the day-to-day operations of staff, including authorizing and coordinating leave and overtime requests. Monitor and evaluate staff performance.

What will you bring to the role:

Passionate about staff development, you bring experience supervising and motivating a team of staff, supporting and promoting an inclusive and respectful workplace culture. Specifically, you have experience setting performance objectives, coaching, mentoring and evaluating performance.

To be successful in this role, you will have extensive human resources experience in a large complex organization, paired with experience working in an HR Service Centre. In addition, you will have significant experience with implementing projects/initiatives.

You will bring thorough knowledge of relevant human resources practices, collective agreements and employment legislation, as well as technical and project methodology knowledge.

Your success has been based on excellent customer service and communication skills that you are able to apply effectively at all levels of the organization. You are resourceful and bring well-developed problem-solving skills and can deliver on project initiatives. You bring experience resolving issues of confidential nature, and the ability to take initiative and make independent decisions .

Last, but not least, you have a post-secondary education in a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience in human resources. A CHRP, CHRL or other relevant professional designation would be an asset.
