We're looking for an Innovation Engineer who builds working prototypes that demonstrate AWS capabilities to executive audiences. You'll develop new use cases end to end, writing frontend and backend code, deploying to AWS, and iterating until the experience is polished enough for a live customer walkthrough. You'll work alongside senior engineers and Innovation Hub leads, taking ownership of individual use cases from concept through deployment.
A big part of the role is also building for reuse. As you ship demos, you'll extract common patterns into templates and shared components so the next build starts further ahead. You're not just building one-off prototypes; you're contributing to a growing library of reusable parts.
This is primarily a builder role. You spend most of your time writing code and shipping demos, with a smaller portion supporting the operational readiness of the Hub environment.
Key job responsibilities
Use Case Development and Rapid Prototyping (60%)
Lead end-to-end development of new use cases and interactive demonstrations, from concept to deployed prototype
Build fullstack prototypes using modern web technologies. Our current reference stack is React/TypeScript frontends, Python Lambda backends, and CDK infrastructure, with AWS AI/ML services (Bedrock, SageMaker, Bedrock Agents, AgentCore) as the core capability layer. You'll work within this stack and help evolve it.
Translate customer business challenges into compelling technical demonstrations within tight timelines. Typical build cycle is 1 to 2 weeks from concept to live demo.
Architect serverless solutions that are cheap when idle and reliable during walkthroughs
Develop industry-specific prototypes across manufacturing (digital twins, predictive maintenance, computer vision quality inspection), financial services (claims automation, wealth management, compliance), public sector (smart city operations, geospatial intelligence, digital identity), healthcare, telecommunications, and physical AI
Build with executive-grade UX standards: immersive layouts, streaming AI responses, fast interactions, touchscreen-aware interfaces, and narrative-driven flows
Incorporate the latest AWS service launches and capabilities into Hub demonstrations. The role requires staying current with what AWS ships.
Build and maintain reusable templates, component libraries, and patterns that make future builds faster. Identify what's common across use cases and extract it into shared tooling.
Technical Architecture and Innovation (20%)
Design solution architectures that balance demo impact with operational simplicity. Fewer services, direct integrations, serverless by default.
Evaluate and integrate emerging AWS services (new Bedrock models, custom silicon capabilities, multi-modal inference, agentic frameworks) into the Hub's use case portfolio
Own the Hub's infrastructure patterns: CDK stacks, Lambda layers, shared backend utilities, frontend component libraries. Decide when to build new patterns and when to extend existing ones.
Orchestrate across the AWS ecosystem. Find and connect the right components from Bedrock, SageMaker, open source libraries, partner tools, and internal accelerators to assemble demos efficiently.
Ensure all prototypes meet the Hub's operational bar: one-command deploy, zero cost when idle, graceful degradation, deterministic state, health checks
Provide technical guidance to Hub team members on AWS services, solution architecture, and prototyping approaches
Partner with AWS service teams, GenAIIC, ProServe, and partners to incorporate their capabilities into Hub experiences
Hub Operations and Readiness (20%)
Ensure all demo stations and interactive exhibits are operational and properly configured before customer visits
Coordinate demo environment health checks: verify frontends load, backends respond, and AI services are reachable
Manage demo content updates: swap industry-specific data, update branding, refresh scenarios for upcoming visits
Support visit logistics: coordinate with facilities on equipment, manage demo scheduling, and ensure smooth visitor experience on the day
Maintain documentation of demo runbooks, deployment guides, and operational procedures
Track equipment inventory and coordinate maintenance for Hub hardware and displays
Build and maintain the technical infrastructure for hub operations including but not limited to customer intake platforms, internal micro-site etc
