Description

AWS has been innovating on behalf of customers since 1995. Penrose Networks provide fast, reliable, and high-bandwidth connectivity inside the datacenters the power Amazon Web Services' cloud. Penrose Networks is looking for a Sr Technical Program Manager to join the team.

In this role, you’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the next generation of datacenter networking. You will own programs spanning multiple VP-level organizations, drive the development of new software components, network infrastructure designs, hardware designs, and business processes restructuring. You will directly contribute to make the next-generation of datacenter networking a reality.

And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

If are a program manager with deep technical understanding, you are never satisfied with the status quo, and you are passionate of new technologies and clean architecture, we encourage you to apply.

The ideal candidate has a strong track record in technical project management, can lead deeply technical conversations about software and system development. They exhibit critical thinking, excellent problem solving, can drive outcomes independently and build effective relationship with other teams they do not have direct authority over.

Key job responsibilities
• You’ll drive both software and network hardware programs to meet the ever-growing customer demand.
• You’ll manage competing cross-organizational projects on a global scale.
• You’ll interact cross-team with Software and Network Engineers, Managers, Technical Program Managers, and Data Center Technician, and Sr Leadership (Director and above)
• You will run meetings, create and maintain timelines, and keep large, diverse groups informed of progress and obstacles. You will proactively identify blockers and resolve them before they impact projects.
• You’ll work with engineers to develop detailed and creative solutions to complex problems. You will identify or create simple, scalable solutions for big problems.
• You’ll drive simplification efforts in engineering and project/program management, and architectures to unblock innovation.
• You’ll partner with multiple teams across various locations to ensure priorities are agreed and outcomes are delivered.

A day in the life
Technical Program Managers in the AWS Networking organization have a wide range of responsibilities: we work with internal partners to develop and implement the next gen infrastructures along with the tooling ecosystems to support with these platforms driving efficiency and scalability through the automation of builds, configuration deployment, and the scaling of capacity. As our network is one of the largest in the world, there is no blue print at our scale allowing our engineers to develop solutions to the complex challenges that we face daily. We encourage durable solutions that look around corners while taking into consideration our customer needs from a cost, performance, and reliability perspective. Our team owns the tooling and network infrastructure that provides bandwidth within AWS datacenters.

You will have frontier coding agents with unlimited tokens, even if the role does not require you to code on a daily basis.

About the team
Penrose Networks is the next-generation datacenter network in AWS. Through a novel architecture based on special mathematical properties, we deliver more resilient, higher-bandwidth, and lower-cost networking compared to the current industry standard. Our team has invented this technology, proven its viability, and driven its adoption across AWS. We are currently working to further enlarge the adoption of this technology to a wider set of use cases and locations.

We are a tiger team. Our team owns the network, software, and program management aspects that make this next-gen network a reality.
