We are seeking an experienced Environmental Professional to join our Japan Environmental Assurance Program (EAP) team as a Sr. Regional Environmental Manager – AMZL. This role will take charge of in-the-field environmental compliance across Amazon Japan's Last Mile delivery operations. This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of environmental stewardship, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence, making a tangible difference in our environmental footprint.

As Sr. Regional Environmental Manager – AMZL, you will partner with operations, facilities, engineering, and regional and site EAP teams across the Japan network to execute Amazon environmental standards and Japanese procedures while ensuring compliance with all applicable local, prefectural, and national regulations. The successful candidate will define and refine operationally supportive environmental policy, lead the rollout of environmental programs throughout the JP network, assist with internal audit protocols, and support change initiatives across our business operations.

By focusing on standards, risk assessments, and compliance evaluations, you will lead continuous improvement initiatives to minimize environmental aspects and impacts while communicating and implementing best practices across the Japan business network.

The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced environments, is an effective communicator in both English and Japanese (verbally and written), possesses excellent program management capabilities and deep environmental regulatory knowledge, and can serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) when partnering with teams and stakeholders throughout Japan.

Due to the nature of this position, the role will be based in Tokyo, Osaka, or Akita other locations may be considered.

Key job responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance: Maintain thorough understanding of local, prefecture, and national environmental regulations and Amazon standards. Ensure full compliance across the Japan network while serving as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for environmental regulatory matters and monitoring performance against applicable regulations, programs, and procedures for applicable BUs.
Program Development: Create and implement country-level procedures, lead environmental program rollout, develop internal audit protocols, support change management, and establish regulatory tasks in the company environmental management system.

Cross-Functional: Partner with operations, facilities, engineering, and regional/site EAP teams to execute Amazon environmental standards and Japanese regulatory procedures. Collaborate with critical functions including Dangerous Goods, Product Compliance, Retail, Procurement, and Learning and Development.

Risk Management: Conduct standards reviews, risk assessments, and compliance evaluations. Lead continuous improvement initiatives to minimize environmental impacts, implement best practices, and establish proactive performance metrics focusing on 'right first time' approach.

Incident Management & Reporting Conduct thorough environmental incident investigations and regulatory reports. Develop corrective actions for network implementation and provide monthly/quarterly management reports to the APAC Environmental Leader.

Strategic: Contribute to JP EAP strategy, support functional development projects with technical expertise, and ensure on-time delivery of environmental strategy objectives.

The Environmental Assurance Program (EAP) team plays a critical role in driving environmental compliance and excellence across Amazon's operations. Our team partners with operations, facilities, engineering, and site-level teams to execute Amazon's environmental standards while ensuring full compliance with all applicable local, prefectural, and national regulations. We serve as subject matter experts in environmental regulatory matters, providing technical guidance, conducting risk assessments, and leading continuous improvement initiatives to minimize environmental impacts across the network.

The EAP team is responsible for developing and implementing environmental policies, procedures, and programs tailored to regional markets.
