Build the developer platform powering Ring's ecosystem of 75 million+ deployed cameras — defining how third-party developers discover, create, and launch applications that protect homes and businesses worldwide. The Ring Appstore launched to General Availability in March 2026, and this is the role that leads what comes next: scaling a greenfield developer ecosystem into a self-sustaining platform powered by AI-native tooling.
Ring is seeking a Principal Product Manager – Technical to own the Ring Developer Experience — the unified platform that enables third-party developers and partners to discover, build, test, certify, and publish applications that integrate with Ring's security cameras and smart home devices. You will serve as the single-threaded product owner of the developer-facing platform at developer.ring.com, spanning APIs, developer tooling, sandbox environments, AI-assisted development capabilities, app certification workflows, and developer support infrastructure.
This is a high-visibility, high-ambiguity role at the intersection of platform strategy, API product management, and AI-native developer tooling. It requires a leader who can set a multi-year product vision, make complex technical tradeoffs, and influence cross-functional stakeholders across Ring, AWS, and Amazon's broader developer ecosystem.
Key job responsibilities
As the single-threaded owner of the Ring Developer Experience , you will set direction, define requirements, and partner across engineering and business teams to deliver a world-class developer platform. Core responsibilities include:
• Define and own the multi-year product vision and technical roadmap for the Ring Developer Experience platform. Translate strategic priorities into executable plans that drive developer acquisition, activation, and ecosystem health.
• Own the end-to-end developer lifecycle from initial discovery through onboarding, API integration, app certification, and post-launch growth. Design the platform so that developers at every stage — from a first-time indie developer to a global enterprise partner — can move quickly, build confidently, and publish successfully.
• Lead transition to an AI-native developer experience by driving innovations in AI-assisted coding, automated developer support, intelligent documentation, and platform monitoring. Own the roadmap for AI tooling that dramatically reduces time-to-integration and helps developers build better, faster applications on Ring.
• Define API capabilities and platform architecture in close partnership with engineering, making deliberate technical tradeoffs across authentication, device access, streaming, data access, and extensibility. Ensure Ring's developer APIs are well-designed, well-documented, secure, and capable of supporting a broad and growing set of third-party use cases.
• Develop and execute developer cohort strategy across enterprise partners, startups, and independent developers. Define how the platform serves each segment — differentiated onboarding paths, support models, access tiers, and business terms — and partner with Business Development and Marketing to activate and grow each cohort.
• Drive developer trust, certification, and platform integrity by owning the app certification and security review process, automated developer trust scoring, API usage policies, and enforcement mechanisms. Balance developer velocity with the rigorous standards customers expect from Ring.
• Lead cross-functional alignment and influence without authority across Engineering, Business Development, Solution Architecture, Marketing, Finance, and Ring platform teams. Drive alignment on API expansion priorities, partner go-to-market execution, and resource investment decisions. Represent the developer platform strategy to Ring and Amazon senior leadership.
• Establish and own success metrics for the developer ecosystem, including developer acquisition, activation, satisfaction, time-to-first-app, and ecosystem health indicators. Use data and customer feedback to inform roadmap prioritization and make the case for strategic investment.
• Author high-quality product documents in Amazon's writing format — including PR/FAQs, product requirements documents, and high-level design documents — that clearly articulate the customer problem, the proposed solution, and the business rationale for major platform investments.
About the team
The Ring Appstore team unlocks the long tail of specialized applications that Ring's network of 75 million+ deployed cameras can support. Our mission is to build and accelerate the self-reinforcing flywheel that makes Ring's camera ecosystem increasingly valuable over time: more developers build more apps, which drive more customer value, which drives Ring Protect retention and device sales, which in turn attracts more developers and partners to the platform. The Developer Experience function is at the center of that flywheel, responsible for defining the API capabilities, developer tooling, and platform infrastructure that make the cycle possible.
We are a small, high-ownership team that operates at startup speed within one of the world's largest technology companies.
