Amazon’s Long-Term Planning & Forecasting team is looking for passionate and talented individuals to help architect the future of the world's most advanced fulfillment network. This role will contribute to developing models that inform multi-billion-dollar investments in inventory, hiring, and other strategic decisions across our global stores.

As an Applied Scientist on our team, you will drive multi-billion-dollar investment decisions that shape Amazon's global fulfillment strategy. You will pioneer innovative solutions using operations research, AI, machine learning and statistical techniques, directly influencing Amazon's ability to delight customers while optimizing billions in capital investments. Your insights and recommendations will be presented to the highest levels of senior leadership, helping guide company-wide strategy.

Key job responsibilities
In this role, you will develop our next-generation regional fulfillment network planning system.
- This involves creating sophisticated forecasting models that power network utilization decisions, transforming complex supply chain challenges into elegant mathematical solutions.
- You will design and implement novel algorithms that optimize warehouse usage, inventory inbound timing, and labor planning.

About the team
Long-Term Planning and Forecasting (LTPF) organization develops forecasting, optimization, and analytics products and services to plan Amazon's topline demand, inventory, and fulfillment capacity and topology, including strategic decisions and Amazon policies to drive key business metrics.

This means accelerating the Amazon flywheel by 1) being the definitive source for accurate predictions and bridging of customer demand, inventory, and cube to enable optimization of decisions in the supply chain, and 2) optimizing inventory efficiency, capital allocation, network's topology, and fulfillment resources, aligning with our customer experience and cost-to-serve goals.
