Amazon
The Worblehat team is looking for a Software Development Engineer to join our mission-critical platform that automates operational compliance across Amazon's global fulfillment network. This unique role impacts millions through the Personnel Resource Manager (PRM) system, which automates eligibility verification and training policy compliance for over 1 million Associates across 2,000+ sites worldwide. Your code will directly protect associate safety by preventing non-compliant work assignments and enable intelligent workforce management decisions that keep Amazon's operations running smoothly.
You'll work across the full technology stack—distributed Java microservices, serverless Lambda functions, and integrations with dozens of partner systems including Learning Management Systems, HR platforms, and workforce management tools. Your solutions will balance technical constraints with business requirements across Training, Planning, Scheduling, and Staffing domains. Strong operational excellence is essential: your deployments affect real-time workforce operations at thousands of sites simultaneously, making reliability and thoughtful risk management core to the role.
Key job responsibilities
- Design and develop maintainable, scalable software solutions across the full technology stack, from database schemas and Lambda functions to user interfaces and external integrations that support workforce compliance for over 1 million Associates globally.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners including Regional Learning Managers and operations teams, translating operational requirements into technical solutions that advance PRM's capabilities
- Architect and implement solutions that balance complex technical requirements with business needs, translating between technical architecture and operational impact across multiple business domains.
- Contribute to the full software development lifecycle including scoping, design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance of mission-critical eligibility and compliance systems.
- Demonstrate operational excellence by identifying and resolving root causes of operational issues, while continuously improving monitoring systems and documentation for a platform supporting thousands of fulfillment sites worldwide.
A day in the life
Part of your day will go toward building features across the full stack: writing Java services, building Lambda functions, and jumping into frontend work. You'll review teammates' code and investigate performance issues. You'll have opportunities to meet with operations and learning teams to translate the problems they face into technical requirements that drive the technical strategy for the team.
Then, you may provide operational support for the team: troubleshooting issues affecting live sites, setting up monitoring, documenting technical decisions, and mentoring engineers when needed. The variety and direct impact on associate safety and site operations make the work engaging.
About the team
Our team recently expanded PRM to specialized fulfillment sites, automated site onboarding to accelerate deployment, and rearchitected critical components for better reliability. Looking ahead to 2026, we're scaling to new lines of business and building additional resiliency into the platform as it becomes even more essential to operations.
We're a collaborative team that values operational excellence and thoughtful technical design. You'll work alongside engineers who care about both shipping features and maintaining the reliability that thousands of sites depend on.
