As part of the AWS Infrastructure organization, Data Center Communities (DCC) includes design, engineering, 24/7 operations, automation, energy and sustainability investments.
Key job responsibilities
As a Business Operations Manager, you will partner with the Global Network Delivery (GND) organization and its leaders to establish and exercise critical business processes and guide tooling development that impacts both financial management and resourcing for the organization.
As the Business Operations Manager, you will exercise deep expertise on the key inputs that affect hiring performance and productivity, as well as related metrics that enable performance measurement in these areas. You will earn trust with partner teams such as Finance and key leaders in the organization in order to expand mechanisms and strategies beyond GND.
You will arrange and facilitating off-site events with senior executives to advance GND initiatives, coordinate business activities with partners in Talent Acquisition and Human Resources, and collaborate with partners external to AWS. You will establish and enforce the right governance across all key mechanisms in the organization and be an authority to drive operational excellence across the same. You will enforce and be authority on compliance across AWS’ global expense policy and headcount management. You will facilitate key organizational mechanisms such as business reviews, goal reviews, and off-sites. You will leverage your excellent analytical abilities, business acumen, intense curiosity, and superior written and verbal communication skills. to hold a high bar for all operational business mechanisms in the organization.
A day in the life
Rhythm of Business
- Own and drive key business mechanisms such as: WBRs, MBRs, QBRs etc.
- Organize and drive annual OP process including arranging brainstorming, doc drafts, reviews, etc.
- Partner with GND leadership to plan relevant offsites. As part of this own developing and driving the agenda for both business related activities and team building.
Workforce Plans
- Partner with GND leadership to develop mechanisms to track progress against workforce plan goals.
- Partner with BIE team to develop hiring targets for OP1 and OP2
- Partner with Recruiting to track progress against hiring targets and act as single threaded owner for relevant Recruiting goals/programs (e.g. Bar Raisers, Shadows, etc.)
- Develop and drive reporting, analysis, and recommendations on employee productivity
- Develop and drive reporting, analysis, and recommendations on T&E spend. Implement and drive any related governance required.
Goals
- Drive annual goal creation process including calendar, workback plans, etc. ensuring these feed into more senior goals processes at DCPD, DCC, and KPNS levels.
- Establish and lead the mechanisms, governance, and reporting for goals reviews
- Manage the goals calendar to ensure reviews happen at the right times to support upward reviews (i.e. Kerry, Kevin, Prasad)
- Develop and facilitate goal writing workshops. Uphold high standards on goal writing and goal updates
People
- Identify leadership training opportunities for the leadership team and general builder population (internal and/or external). Arrange any identified training directly or through others and track success of such training
- Develop analyses, recommendations, and related mechanisms to assess employee experience and drive actions to continuously raise the bar for positive builder sentiment.
- Partner the leadership team to manage initiatives that support employee retention, attrition, promotion, and other related matters to improve the GND employee experience.
- Partner with the leadership team to identify, plan, and organize relevant team building activities in key hub locations.
