Description

The Sr Category Manager, Commercial Excellence is a senior individual-contributor role with ownership of category P&L outcomes for Amazon Now. This role is responsible for improving the overall health of the business by identifying and addressing opportunities across portfolio mix, margin structure, and monetization effectiveness as the category scales.

The role drives better outcomes by shaping which parts of the portfolio are amplified, how funding is deployed, and where monetization levers are applied to correct structural inefficiencies. To execute on this mandate, the role serves as the single-threaded business owner for Deals, Ads, and Monetization, defining the deal archetypes, funding guardrails, and prioritization logic that determine where and how commercial levers are applied across brands at scale. The role replaces fragmented, brand-by-brand decisioning with standardized constructs that can be consistently executed, measured, and evolved to improve category economics.

Operating closely with Category, Finance, Marketing, Instock, and Tech teams, this role translates P&L objectives into clear commercial choices and execution standards. Success is measured by sustained improvement in contribution outcomes, driven by better portfolio mix, disciplined deal execution, and more effective monetization.

Key job responsibilities
Own category-level P&L outcomes, with accountability for improving business health through better portfolio mix, margin profile, and monetization effectiveness.

Identify opportunities to strengthen category economics, diagnosing gaps in mix, discounting behavior, and funding efficiency, and defining the interventions required to address them.

Act as the single-threaded business owner for Deals, Ads, and Monetization, owning end-to-end commercial intent, prioritization, and outcomes from the business perspective.

Define standard deal constructs and monetization approaches, including funding guardrails and prioritization logic, and scale them consistently across brands to replace ad-hoc or brand-specific execution.

Lead Deals as a centralized charter, establishing governance, approval mechanisms, and success criteria to ensure deal activity is intentional, comparable across brands, and aligned to P&L objectives.

Unify Ads and COOP under a single monetization lens, determining how these levers are applied together, how incremental impact is assessed, and how spend efficiency is improved over time.

Translate P&L goals into executional mechanisms, embedding commercial standards into planning processes, operating rhythms, and cross-functional workflows to ensure decisions are applied consistently at scale.

Operate as a senior IC and thought partner, independently framing ambiguous commercial problems, influencing senior stakeholders, and raising the bar on business-side monetization discipline across Amazon Now.
