Key job responsibilities
We are looking for an excellent engineer who combines superb technical and analytical capabilities with a demonstrated ability to get the right things done quickly and effectively:

• Design and deliver complex avionics test rack hardware that enables efficient development, production, and verification of flight electronics.
• Own test rack hardware and software requirement definition, translating device-level specifications and performance needs into clear, scalable test system designs.
• Derive and validate test requirements from engineering design documents, ensuring comprehensive test coverage.
• Investigate and resolve test issues across production, regression, and qualification environments, using data-driven RCCA.
• Review and approve manufacturing processes and work instructions related to assembly and test of avionics devices.
• Develop training, documentation, and tooling that enable operators, technicians, and engineers to use test racks safely and effectively.
• Continuously improve test system reliability, diagnostics, throughput, and scalability.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (SW, QA, Production Operations, etc.) to ensure test systems meet program milestones.
• Demonstrate end-to-end ownership from concept through deployment, including architecture, design reviews, implementation, verification, and support.

A day in the life
As a Senior Power Avionics Test Engineer, you will work within the avionics engineering organization to design and own test rack hardware for power avionics LRUs. You translate device-level requirements into clear test system design requirements, drive design reviews, and deliver reliable hardware that supports development, qualification, and production test needs. You collaborate closely with electrical, software, and manufacturing teams to ensure interfaces, operational constraints, and performance goals are well understood and correctly implemented.

Your day spans concept through deployment: developing and reviewing requirements, designing test system hardware, debugging issues in production or regression test environments, and supporting technicians and operators who rely on your systems. You own documentation, provide training, and raise the bar on test coverage and reliability. You strive to make your system scale reliably, drive continuous improvement, and maintain long-term ownership that enables fast, high-quality delivery of mission-critical avionics.

You will work with a team of top-notch engineers and collaborate with multiple other spacecraft design and integration teams. You should be comfortable with a high degree of ambiguity and relish the idea of solving problems that haven't been solved at scale before. Along the way, we guarantee that you will learn a lot, have fun and make a positive impact on tens of millions of people!

About the team
Our team is responsible for designing and delivering power avionics subsystems such as propulsion control, solar array deployment and control, and magnetorquer bars. We take ownership and work hard to deliver the highest quality solutions to support the long-term success of Amazon Leo. This team consists of a broad set of technical backgrounds, and we look forward to welcoming people that are excited to help us deliver broadband internet to underserved communities!
