Sr. Physical Security Engineer (GovCloud), Data Center Design Engineering

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Senior Physical Security Engineer to join its data center design team. Position is available for any of the following locations:
• Seattle, Washington
• Herndon, Virginia
• Columbus, Ohio
• Austin, Texas
As a Senior Physical Security Engineer at AWS, you will lead security designs for Amazon Dedicated Cloud (GovCloud) Data Centers (DC) throughout our Americas Region. Senior Physical Security Engineers at AWS work to design and implement security measures to protect high security, , resilient, cost-effective Data Center (DC) facilities. You will lead security designs to meet our intelligence customer base and AWS global DC physical security standards to ensure compliance with government regulations and security standards (e.g., Intelligence Community Directive 705). You will ensure perimeter hardening measures, acoustic security standards, electronic access control systems, UL2050 intrusion detection systems, and electronic emanations security standards are included in facility designs. You will lead a highly creative and efficient design team comprised of Architects, Engineers, and Designers tasked with solving problems and challenging the status quo. As an industrial security design subject matter expert, you will provide technical guidance, have a direct impact on the design of DC facilities, solve large-scale implementation issues, and be responsible for developing and communicating security design requirements to internal and external project partners.
As a Senior Physical Security Engineer, you will work directly with other AWS Industrial Security Teams, AWS Security Operations Teams, and other partners to collaborate in the real-world application of physical security principles throughout AWS. You will review and be very knowledgeable of new technologies and industrial security measures for possible application to the existing facility designs in order to enhance the security posture across AWS. You should have a working knowledge of sensitive compartmented information physical security principles detailed in Intelligence Community Directive 705 and how they relate to practical application and real-world implementation of processes and measures. Experience with United Laboratories (UL) 2050 compliant security systems, emanation (TEMPEST) security, and a working knowledge of Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED) are desired.
Key job responsibilities
• Lead physical security designs (construction drawings and specifications) and architecture elements (cameras, access control, intrusion detection, fences, gates, etc.) for Amazon Dedicated Cloud (GovCloud) DC projects.
• Collaborate with other industrial security organizations within AWS to develop design standards, evaluate cost, risk and benefits of designs and facilitate intelligence community compliant designs.
• Remain current on the latest physical security technologies and best practices used in sensitive compartmented information facility designs.
• inlead the creation and maintenance of a Physical Security Basis of Design, prototype design, and template specifications for physical security elements.
• Create security design scope of work for design Requests For Proposals.
• Review and direct the work of physical security engineering design consultants.
• Manage multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously.
• Travel for site assessments, internal design meetings, construction review, and interfacing with design consultants. Anticipated travel not to exceed 25%.
