AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector. The AWS Global Support team interacts with leading companies and believes that world-class support is critical to customer success. [AWS China Introduction] Amazon Web Services came to China in 2013, and has been relentlessly investing and expanding our infrastructure and business since then. Amazon Web Services launched its China (Beijing) Region (operated by Sinnet) in September 2016 and its China (Ningxia) Region (operated by NWCD) in December 2017. In 2019, Amazon Web Services added a new region in Hong Kong, making China the only country with three Amazon Web Services regions aside from the U.S. In 2022, Amazon Web Services launched Local Zone in Taipei. Amazon Web Services has also established an AI lab in Shanghai and two IoT labs in Shenzhen and Taipei. The Amazon Web Services Partner Network has thousands of Partners in China. AWS Marketplace (http://aws.amazon.com/marketplace) is looking for people who thrive in an environment where you are faced with new things every day and have the latitude to figure it out and run with it. Our job is to bring Amazon's e-commerce expertise to cloud software and fundamentally change how software is discovered and consumed in the cloud. The AWS Marketplace China and Partner teams drive adoption by helping customers discover, procure, deploy and manage third-party software from ISVs selling in Marketplace. We are looking for a senior Business Leader to incubate and scale the Marketplace business in China.
This is a unique opportunity to develop and execute the China GTM strategy for this transformational software procurement marketplace. The successful candidate will be a broad leader – part market maker, part operator and part sales coach. You will be comfortable managing cross functional teams and understand what it takes to build a long term business. Importantly this leader will be responsible for defining the operating model that enables AWS Marketplace to become the preferred route to market for all AWS China partners and customers. There are 3 key roles who are considered specialists in helping achieve this vision (1/ Customer Advisor 2/ Marketplace Development Manager and 3/ Channel Manager). Each of these roles focuses on key elements of the value chain of Buyers and Sellers on AWS MP. Therefore the role will need to engage with stakeholders from across teams to finalize this operating model for the future. Your responsibilities will include developing a strategy that positions AWS Marketplace as a strategic growth pillar of the overall AWS business in China. You will also develop mechanisms to establish new business in target market segments, and work with field organization to drive the day-to-day interactions of identifying prospects for long-term business opportunities. You will work very closely with the BD, Partner, and Professional Services leaders to identify and prioritize areas of focus, help drive adoption and market penetration. You’ll also work with your specialist resources to capture the voice of the customer and work closely with the product teams to help them further mature our Marketplace offering and address issues, concerns, and requests from the field.
Candidates should have experience in market development of cloud infrastructure and/or enterprise applications, and be self-starters willing to operate in a multi-faceted way and roll up their sleeves whenever needed. The role will require working with the overall community of AWS Marketplace ISVs, AWS Consulting Partners, AWS Field resources, and a variety of AWS Service teams to help customers achieve their transformational goals through the combined power of the AWS service offering and our Marketplace partners.
Key job responsibilities
• Maintain close connection with WW Marketplace COE Teams to ensure that China requirements are regularly communicated and understood.
• Maintain close connection with Area stakeholders to have a deep understand what customers and partners are requiring in order to make AWSMP fit for purpose.
• Lead the team of specialists and motivate them to execute exceptionally well as part of the China partner organization.
A day in the life
This leader will work towards ensuring they keep in close touch with what each Area in China requires to reach mass adoption of AWS Marketplace by the prevalent ISVs and Channel Partners in the market. They use this understanding to direct the team to build and execute programs to suit each area's unique requirements.
