Key job responsibilities
We're looking for a Sr. Manager, Applied Science to lead a team of Applied Scientists and Machine Learning Engineers in our Just Walk Out Technology organization. As a Sr. Manager, Applied Science, you will be responsible for building and leading a world-class team that pushes the boundaries of computer vision, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.

In this role, you will drive the technical vision and strategy for your team while fostering a culture of innovation and scientific excellence. You will balance hands-on technical leadership with people management responsibilities, ensuring your team delivers cutting-edge solutions while growing professionally. The role requires someone who can think strategically about business problems while diving deep into technical details when needed.

- Building and mentoring a team of Applied Scientists and ML Engineers
- Setting technical direction and research strategy aligned with business goals
- Driving innovation in visual reasoning systems, AI agent design, and computer vision
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate research into production
- Managing project portfolios and resource allocation

Just Walk Out (JWO) is a new kind of store with no lines and no checkout—you just grab and go! Customers simply use the Amazon Go app to enter the store, take what they want from our selection of fresh, delicious meals and grocery essentials, and go!

Our checkout-free shopping experience is made possible by our Just Walk Out Technology, which automatically detects when products are taken from or returned to the shelves and keeps track of them in a virtual cart. When you’re done shopping, you can just leave the store. Shortly after, we’ll charge your account and send you a receipt. Check it out at justwalkout.com. Designed and custom-built by Amazonians, our Just Walk Out Technology uses a variety of technologies including computer vision, sensor fusion, and advanced machine learning.
