The Amazon Payments Unified Paying experinece Tech Team’s vision is to delight our customers with the best payment experience in the world. To achieve this vision, we are in search of a talented technical leader and craftsman who builds robust software that scales as well as client-facing features which are intuitive and simple to use.

Our team takes a world view of payments for all of Amazon and builds highly customized and seamless payment experiences for our global customers. This focus on customer and geography requires working on different technologies and back-end platform systems in order to meet the needs of our customers. You will have a chance to understand and influence Amazon's Stack across Retail and Digital business.

As part of this role, you will be a full-stack developer with opportunities to work on tier-1 services we own along with various AWS-tech. You will interact with with senior engineers, Principal Engineer(s) and learn about how payments works in Amazon. The ideal candidate will have strong distributed systems and web services design and implementation experience, as well as experience working on high availability production systems.

Experience using technologies and frameworks such as React, React Native, Cloud native products such as AWS Lambda, and DynamoDB would be an added advantage.


Key job responsibilities
1. Software Design and Development: SDE2s are responsible for designing, developing, and implementing complex payments software systems and features that works across Desktop, Mobile, eReader, Alexa and 1P & 3P TVs. This involves writing high-quality, scalable, and maintainable code in various programming languages and frameworks used at Amazon. E.g., React, React Native, Cloud native products such as AWS Lambda, and DynamoDB
2. Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting: SDE2s analyze and troubleshoot technical issues, identify root causes, and devise effective solutions to address them. They collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve problems and ensure the smooth operation of the systems.
3. Architectural Contributions: SDE2s contribute to the overall system architecture, making decisions on technology choices, design patterns, and software infrastructure. They provide technical guidance and recommendations to their teams.
4. Agile Development Practices: SDE2s are expected to participate actively in Agile software development processes, such as sprint planning, daily standups, code reviews, and retrospectives. They work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver high-quality software.
5. Mentorship and Knowledge Sharing: Experienced SDE2s often mentor and guide junior developers, sharing their technical expertise and best practices. They collaborate with the team to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
6. Operational Support: SDE2s may be involved in operational tasks, such as monitoring system performance, investigating incidents, and implementing improvements to ensure high availability and reliability of the applications.
7. Continuous Improvement: SDE2s stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and methodologies. They actively participate in initiatives to streamline processes, improve development practices, and enhance the overall software development lifecycle.
