Amazon's Legal Department is looking for a talented Associate Corporate Counsel to support Amazon Web Services (AWS), a dynamic and rapidly growing business at the forefront of cloud computing. This Associate Corporate Counsel role is based at Amazon’s HQ2 in Arlington, Virginia.
The successful candidate has excellent communication and organizational skills. They are enthusiastic about technology, enjoy working hard and being continually challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations. They are able to prioritize, multitask, meet deadlines, and maintain flexibility in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate works well within a large legal team, but is also able to work independently.
We hire attorneys with experience in a variety of practice areas, including (but not limited to) litigators, general corporate, mergers & acquisitions, technical transactions, intellectual property, telecommunications, real estate, products, regulatory compliance, and privacy. We don’t expect every applicant to have experience working with cloud computing, and we are looking for candidates who are willing to learn and develop alongside our team. Most importantly, we hire smart people of all backgrounds and experiences who demonstrate leadership and sound judgment in ambiguous situations.
Key job responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders and supports the AWS Marketplace & Partner Services team
- Work directly with business teams developing new products and services
- Identify risks and propose mitigation strategies
- Advise on regulatory and compliance matters, privacy, intellectual property, and go-to-market strategy
- Provide day-to-day input on business strategy
- 2+ years of legal experience
- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
- Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work
- Experience in web services/cloud computing, software licensing, telecommunications or equivalent
- Experience managing multiple projects and meeting aggressive deadlines
- Background in sophisticated, multifaceted transactions
- In-house experience at a technology or internet company
