The AWS Compliance & Security Assurance team is responsible for scaling AWS's ability to exceed the security and compliance expectations of our regulators, auditors, and customers globally.
As a Data Engineer, you will design and deliver scalable data engineering solutions that power AWS Security initiatives. The role offers a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic environment that provides startup-like autonomy to build impactful solutions from day one.
The ideal candidate will bring 3+ years of data engineering experience and demonstrate expertise in developing and managing data solutions at scale. You should excel at translating complex data into meaningful insights through collaboration with stakeholders, analysts, and fellow engineers. You will be an integral part of a team that values innovation, technical excellence, and the ability to deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
Key job responsibilities
* Deliver robust, high quality data architecture and pipelines using native AWS technologies (e.g. S3, Redshift, Glue, Lambda etc.) to support Bi solutions and customer analytics needs at scale.
* Collaborate with Business Intelligence Engineering team members and business stakeholders, to gather business and functional requirements, and translate these requirements into scalable data engineering solutions.
* Partner with Software Engineering teams to distill large, complicated datasets into digestible analytical insights.
* Insist on the highest standards by recognizing and adopting best practices in data engineering (e.g. data lineage, data integrity, data quality etc).
* Actively participate in the team code review process, design discussions to identify simplification opportunities propose scalable solutions.

- 3+ years of data engineering experience
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
- 1+ years experience with AWS technologies such as Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, Lambda, IAM.
- Experience in at least one scripting or programming language, such as Python, TypeScript.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Advanced SQL skills with expertise in query performance tuning.
- Experience with non-relational databases / data stores (object storage, document or key-value stores etc)
- Experience mentoring other engineers on best data engineering practices.
- Experience managing infrastructure as code (e.g. AWS CDK).
- Knowledge of software engineering practices around full software development life cycle, coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $118,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $205,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
