To meet the growing demand for AWS Services within government and air-gapped regions, we need exceptionally talented, bright, and driven people. If you have strong program management, IT infrastructure and/or programming experience, and can communicate highly technical concepts to audiences at different stages in the AWS journey, we’d like to speak with you.

We are looking for a dynamic, organized self-starter to join AWS to manage new services and features being deployed in multiple regions. In this role, your primary responsibility will be supporting AWS service teams as a Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM) supporting delivery of services and features within government and air-gapped regions.

The AWS Managed Operations (MO) organization was founded in April 2023, with the objective to reduce operational load and toil through long-term engineering, development, and science projects. MO is building the best-in-class engineering and operations team that will own the day-to-day operations for AWS Regions; improving the availability, reliability, latency, performance and efficiency to operate AWS Regions.

You will have the opportunity to work closely with AWS leadership and Service Teams to deliver novel solutions in commercial, government and air-gapped regions. You will advocate for customer needs, and collaborate with Service Teams to deliver solutions that improve cloud operations for AWS customers. You will work with all stakeholders to develop schedules that ensure timely launch of services and features, identifying dependencies within these regions. You will assess risks, anticipate issues, and balance business needs and constraints.

Successful candidates will have a strong program management background, be detail oriented, and have excellent problem-solving abilities. You will have a deep understanding of program management best practices. You will successfully represent program status to AWS Senior Leadership. Your program management expertise and operational excellence will influence the team’s decisions and drive secure and scalable solutions. You should be passionate about delivering great customer experiences and researching and developing new delivery methodologies.

This role will sit in our new headquarters in Northern Virginia, where Amazon will invest $2.5 billion dollars, occupy 4 million square feet of energy efficient office space, and create at least 25,000 new full-time jobs. This position requires that the candidate selected must be a US Citizen and currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance. The position further requires that, after start, the selected candidate obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph or commensurate clearance for each government agency for which they perform AWS work.

About the team
AWS Operations Center serves as an end-to-end system for AWS operations, providing a centralized location for operations personnel including AWS operators, AWS service owners, third-party operators from AWS trusted partners, and auditors, to conduct their everyday work of managing AWS cloud.

Our Data Science & Data Engineering teams harness the power of data science to identify operational trends across AWS to inform high-value investment decisions for our development teams to eliminate operational toil. Our Software Development teams deliver solutions which support a centralized operational model and deliver on data driven findings to reduce operational toil for Amazon builders.
