Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.
As a Sr. Technical Program Manager you will own driving the execution, implementation, development, and test of Kuiper Mission Operations and the tooling built to support it. The role will interface with the cross-functional engineering and program management teams to orchestrate our operational mission, as well as the software and test infrastructure we own to support it. Because of the scale of the mission, you will be focused on driving automation and operational excellence — identifying areas of improvement and initiating changes to improve the productivity of the fleet.
Key job responsibilities
- Work across the program to track cross-team dependencies, manage the operations schedule and requirements.
- Collaborate with engineering leaders and create program structure to track system-level goals, software and procedure development and cross-functional dependencies.
- Work with cross-functional teams to create project plans and incremental milestones for Operations, Software, and test infrastructure development.
You must be fully competent in a variety of project management tools, methodologies and techniques for all phases of the project life-cycle and exhibit demonstrated proficiency in core project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, resources, quality and risk management, reporting, and metric development/tracking.
The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, have strong organizational skills, able to work independently, juggle multiple tasks at once, and maintain professionalism under pressure. You should have deep knowledge software engineering practices, understand how software and hardware systems interact, and can drive design and implementation of operational execution of objectives in complex systems. Familiarity with space systems is desired.
Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
About the team
The Constellation Operations and Reliability Engineering (CORE) is responsible for operation of our satellite constellation including coordination and execution mission rehearsals, mission schedule and activities, triaging on orbit anomalies, and managing the constellation to maintain safe orbital trajectories. The team also owns the infrastructure to support mission operations including automation, visualization, and simulation of constellation scenarios across virtual and physical test venues. In order to accomplish this the CORE team works across Kuiper to ensure we are able to successfully rehearse, execute, and iteratively improve on our on-orbit operations.
