DESCRIPTION

Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT) powers the physical engine at the heart of Amazon. AFT builds and operates software, hardware, and processes that run the global network of fulfillment centers that move many millions of units of inventory, employ tens of thousands of people, and ensure that customers get what they want when we promised we would get it to them. We do this by building automated solutions to handle things that technology does well, while relying on people to handle things that humans do well. The team is building a new Flow Control architecture that well enable the automation of flow control from dock to dock (Inbound through Outbound). This new architecture will provide standard interfaces for integrating new flow controllers, allowing flow to adapt to Amazon's ever-evolving Fulfillment Center designs.

We are looking for a System Development Engineer to join our team of fungible engineers helping drive strategic initiatives within the AFT. As the ideal candidate for this role, you will have deep hands on experience designing and developing highly scalable and highly available systems. You will also have experience partnering closely with product, science and operations stakeholders to deliver critical new features and products for the business.

Key job responsibilities
As a System Development Engineer, you will/may:
- Identify and solve ambiguous problems, architectural deficiencies, or areas where your team’s systems hinder the innovation of other teams, and are learning to do this for other teams in your organization.
- Design and deliver technology solutions which solve difficult business problems.
- Troubleshoot documented issues and determine root cause
- Manage trouble tickets through to resolution or escalation using existing documentation, procedures, and tools
- Use technology to monitor security vulnerabilities and eliminate risks
- Participate in automating tasks to increase efficiencies
- Dive deeply into technical details, diagnose, and reproduce straightforward issues with Amazon technology products (e.g., services, tools, data solutions, etc.)
- Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology
