Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.
Product Integrity (PI) organization sets and ensures the customer terminals for Project Kuiper meet the reliability and safety targets. The Principal Technical Program Manager role will be at the forefront of driving Product Integrity initiatives across the customer terminals, working to ensure our systems meet or exceed reliability and safety targets throughout their lifecycle. The role will own critical reliability and safety programs, align cross-functional teams, track progress across multiple inter-connected workstreams, and establish processes that make our reliability and safety assurance repeatable, robust, and efficient.
Key job responsibilities
This Principal Technical Program Manager is a highly visible role across the organization. You will drive alignment across Engineering, Quality, Operations, Safety, Reliability, System Integration, and Product Management teams. We are looking for a highly analytical, resourceful, data-driven, team-oriented individual who can work independently under significant time constraints to meet deadlines. You will have a proven track record in taking on end-to-end ownership of complex technical programs and successfully delivering results in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. This includes owning the end-to-end management and implementation of reliability and safety requirements across Kuiper's customer terminals.
• You will own the definition and delivery of reliability and safety programs, including keeping stakeholders informed of status, holding teams accountable to their deliverables, identifying and resolving blocking issues to ensure delivery of robust and reliable systems.
• You will be responsible for understanding complex system architectures and contribute to reliability and safety considerations in large-scale architectural designs. You should be comfortable diving deep into failure modes, reliability analysis, and understanding the mechanisms of multiple complex systems.
• You will own written and verbal communication to senior/executive leadership tracking progress across various product integrity workstreams.
• You will manage new projects end-to-end and ensure our high standards for product integrity are met or exceeded.

- 10+ years of engineering experience
- 7+ years of technical product or program management experience
- 5+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
- Experience with reliability analysis tools and methodologies
- EXPORT CONTROL REQUIREMENT: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
- 8+ years of hands-on work managing complex technology projects experience
- Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
- Advanced degree in Engineering, Physics, or related technical field
- Experience with automotive, aviation reliability and safety requirements and standards
- Experience in statistical analysis and reliability prediction
- Experience with failure analysis and root cause investigation

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $159,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $275,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
