Come join the team and design Amazon's dedicated Heavy Bulky network, where you will drive the P&L for the entire segment. In this role, you will focus on designing and planning the inbound network and placement strategy for all Heavy Bulky inventory sold by Amazon. In addition to planning the launch and topology of inbound cross docks and upstream storage nodes, you will also be working with scientists and engineers from across Amazon as you optimize the flow of goods into our network. As a supply chain manager on AMXL's main strategy team, you'll take end-to-end ownership of operations, emphasizing sales & operations planning, logistics optimization, network design, and analysis of operational efficiency.
In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Business, retail Operations, Supply Chain, Product, Finance, and science teams. Utilize your analytical prowess to identify opportunities for operational improvements, implement scalable systems, and drive automation to enhance efficiency, with a particular focus on optimizing the physical flow of goods into our network. With a focus on strategic projects that directly affect our P&L, your impact will be visible, ongoing, and contribute directly to our commitment to being the most customer-centric company on earth.
Key job responsibilities
- Design the inbound cross dock network and defining the inventory placement strategy for the Amazon Heavy Bulky (AMXL) Network
- Define the upstream storage solutions required to optimize inventory placement and in-stock levels for the entire Heavy Bulky product line for Amazon.
- Own the inbound strategy for all channels of Heavy Bulky Demand
- Serve as the single threaded leader (STL) collaborating with cross functional teams to validate and justify recommended Inbound Cross Dock Building launches, review the financial impact of these new operations, and ensure quick adoption of proposed changes to inbound volume flows.
- Partner with Amazon Global Logistics, retail, and execution teams to establish the optimal inventory inbound strategy.
- Define metrics, develop program management mechanisms, and invent/simplify processes to drive decision-making in complex network capacity situations.
- Partner heavily with Amazon science teams to build complex topology models and present findings to senior leaders during long-term planning cycles.
A day in the life
- Build Optimization models for determining ideal size and location of inbound nodes and upstream storage
- Run placement simulations that help solve for long-term profitability by getting inventory as close to the customer as possible
- Work with cross-functional partners in retail, finance, and operations to build a profitable Heavy Bulky Network
- Work with Amazon Global Logistics to determine the right import strategy for the Heavy Bulky Product Line
About the team
Amazon Extra Large (AMXL) is a single-threaded organization with ownership of the P&L and end-to-end (E2E) customer experience for large, heavy, and bulky products. AMXL consolidates E2E supply chain: strategy, data analytics, tech, operations, warehousing, order fulfillment, transportation, and delivery. AMXL also offers special handling services such as Room of Choice delivery, Haul-Away, and Installation/Assembly for select items. AMXL currently operates in NA, EU, JP, and IN, with plans for further expansion.
- 5+ years of program or project management experience
- 5+ years of supply chain experience
- Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
- Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
- Experience implementing repeatable processes and driving automation or standardization
- 5+ years of leading large complex programs experience
- Master's degree, or MBA in supply chain, business, engineering, finance or related technical or quantitative field
- Experience defining and executing program requirements

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $103,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $181,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
