As a Pharmacy Technician in Training, you will play an essential role in empowering our customers to take their medications correctly and achieve better overall wellness. Successful candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment background screen and drug test. An active in-state pharmacy assistant license is required to be considered.
Within 12 months in the training program, after completing 520 program hours, you will be expected to pass the exam for the National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB or NHA) and obtain your pharmacy technician license from the Washington State Board of Pharmacy. Once you obtain your credential pharmacy technician license, you will be promoted to a Certified Pharmacy Technician. The cost of the exam will be paid for by Amazon Pharmacy.
Key job responsibilities
Core Responsibilities as a Pharmacy Assistant under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist:
● Support functions including prepackaging, repackaging, labeling drugs, delivery management staging for use in prescription dispensing operations meeting HIPAA compliant standards.
● Count, pour, and label for individual prescriptions and any administrative record-keeping when no interpretation is required.
● Support inventory management measures including: stocking, counting, shelf location sorting, adjusting on hand quantities and assisting in the annual inventory process.
● Support the regularly scheduled maintenance of the automated fulfillment equipment.
● Maintain all medication canisters for automated filling equipment.
● Assure canisters are cleaned and calibrated on a regular schedule.
● All canisters calibrated by a pharmacy assistant will be verified by a pharmacist prior to use in the automated machine after calibration occurs.
● Support quality assurance testing of bottled filled from automated filling devices.
● Support online work in all areas supported by pharmacy assistants in the Fulfillment Center when necessary.
● Assure automated machines are properly stocked with bottles, caps, and pharmacy labels.
● Report mechanical issues regarding Automated Fulfillment Equipment immediately to pharmacy management and the Pharmacy Automation Team.
● Any drugs included on the NIOSH hazardous drug list must be handled in accordance with USP, which may require use of personal protective equipment when handling the drug.
Physical Requirements:
During shifts that last up to 12 hours (standard full-time shifts are 10 hours excluding overtime, flex, and part-time shifts may vary):
● Standing, bending, reaching above the head, kneeling, crouching and/or stretching
● Lifting and moving products up to 49 lbs in weight
● Manual dexterity of hands and wrists
Basic Qualifications:
● High school or equivalent diploma
● Active and unrestricted in-state Board of Pharmacy Assistant License
● Willingness to become Nationally Certified within 1 year of Amazon Pharmacy start date. Amazon Pharmacy will provide PTCB training course and reimbursement assistance.
● 6+ months of experience working with computer and web based tools
● Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and leadership team.
● Ability to read and understand English labeling on product cartons and prescription labels.

● Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member
● Strong organization skills and attention to detail
● Ability to recognize and identify patient medications
● Proven track record with navigating ambiguity
● Experience working under pressure in a fast-paced work environment while consistently meeting standards for productivity and quality

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $31,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $45,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
