Amazon
Are you passionate about the Cloud? Are you looking to help define a new architectural pattern to solve for the complexity of high-volume, high-scale, high-velocity microservice architecture? Does the idea of improving AWS services for Amazon sound exciting to you? Then this role is for you. The Discovery & Networking team is looking for a system development engineer to play a critical role in operating and improving autonomous networking services that will help drive innovation at Amazon.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to work across the entire company. You will work directly with partners and stakeholders, like Alexa, Amazon.com, Kindle, various AWS teams, etc. System Development engineers troubleshoot, debug, evaluate and resolve computer-identified alarms, make feature enhancements, bug fixes, systems management, perform software deployments and migrations, host management and automate routine operational tasks. The position requires a combination of strong troubleshooting, technical, programming/scripting and communication skills and includes a mix of on call and operational tasks and involves small to medium level software development work. Responsible to develop tools and automation to achieve human free operations. You will ensure current (and upcoming) AWS services meet the evolving needs of Amazon. This role offers excellent career opportunities across multiple domains.
Key job responsibilities
• We do almost everything in Linux. We’re looking for people who are not just hobbyists, but people who’ve tweaked their favorite distro to get things working just the way they like them.
• We need people with a solid grasp of networking fundamentals. This includes experience with load balancers, switches, and routers.
• We need people who can design, implement, maintain and deploy components that solve problems in a complex ecosystem. We work in lots of different languages (most often Python, Golang, Java, Ruby, sometimes C++ and perl). It is more important to us that you understand coding in the context of working in distributed systems and/or widely scaled web applications.
• We need people with strong written and verbal communication skills and an ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical individuals.
• We want to work with people whose passion for problem solving goes hand-in-glove with their debugging and troubleshooting skills.
• We need people with an ability to self-motivate and follow-through on projects. To us, that means being detail oriented, passionate, and delivering results.

• Be part of oncall rotations and mitigating incoming incidents by following SOPs provided.
