Within Kindle Content, that mission is advanced by attracting and retaining the authors who supply book content and by balancing author experience with long term profitability. The Kindle Content Sr Financial Analyst plays an integral role in that mission. This role will keep leadership abreast of key financial trends, e.g. in author earnings, e.g.in book buyer behavior and deep dive questions surfaced in trend analysis. This role will also create and support headcount controllership mechanisms that drive down cost to serve. Based in either Seattle, WA or Charleston, SC, the Kindle Content Finance Analyst partners with mostly mid to high level business leaders within Kindle Direct Publishing, Amazon Publishing, and Comixology.

Key job responsibilities
- Contribute to planning, forecasting, and financial reporting for partner businesses
- Perform business case analysis of new programs, deals, feature launches, and acquisition proposals
- Create and manage headcount tracking mechanisms.
- Drive improvements to financial reporting views

A day in the life
On a day-to-day basis, the Sr Financial Analyst supports various businesses within Kindle Content - Amazon Publishing, Comixology, Kindle Direct Publishing, and others. The role works with four other Finance team members to provide partner businesses ad hoc deep dives, forecasts, reporting artifacts, and business analysis. Kindle Content businesses are constantly evolving, frequently launching new features and products to grow reading. Our Finance support evolves with these changes, so we are frequently building new models (e.g. for opportunity sizing) or new reporting views, in addition to improving insight and controllership for mature parts of our business.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience
- MBA, or CPA
- Knowledge of Tableau
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
- 5+ years of finance or a related analytical field experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $60,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $128,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
