DESCRIPTION

Amazon runs a highly successful Events program, offering customers compelling and exciting promotions during large-scale tentpole events [e.g. Diwali sale, Prime Day], Key shopping sales – non festive ARTs [Independence Day, Republic Day and summer sales], Seasonal Sales [Holi, Christmas and Rakshabandhan] and Celebratory sentimental moments [Mother’s day, Valentine’s day etc.].

This role will require you to be the leader for reimagining the next avatar of events and how it can unlock the next phase of growth for Amazon India. You will be responsible for driving the 3YF strategy of events to make it a self-sustaining, profitable machine.

The TPM will lead product and go-to-market initiatives, assess and maximize their return on investment and additionally partner with tech teams to build new products. The TPM will work cross-functionally with several teams - Product Marketing, UX, Research, Legal, Finance, BI, Engineering - to execute all Events.

As a Technical Program Manager on our team, you will be responsible for scoping and delivering major Events projects end-to-end. This includes definition of business and technical requirements. You'll drive project schedules from design to production launch - anticipating bottlenecks, balancing business needs with technical constraints, and providing clear updates. You will lead and coordinate efforts between front-end and back-end teams to develop optimal solutions for engineers around the world. You will be expected to clearly communicate goals, roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes to internal cross-functional and remote project teams.

We're looking for a strong history of program management, demonstrated experience leading medium to large projects, and a well-rounded technical background in current web technologies. You should thrive in an entrepreneurial environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. This means you are not only able to develop and drive high-level initiatives, but can also roll up your sleeves, dig in and get the job done. Maturity, high judgment, negotiation skills, ability to influence, analytical talent and leadership are essential to success in this role.

Key job responsibilities
5+ years of Technical Program Management experience in a related industry.
3+ years of coding experience in a modern language (e.g. Java).
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field.
Experience managing efforts in Unix/Linux environments, distributed systems and/or developing large scale web applications
A first-hand working knowledge of current web technologies.
Experience with business applications such as Word, Excel and Project.
