This position can be based out of the following locations: Seattle, WA, or New York, NY.
We are looking for a Category Manager within the Food Service group. This role is responsible for the topline and gross profit performance of a category or several sub-categories, within the Food-Made-On-Site team. You will be responsible for strategic planning and selection curation, identifying long term growth opportunities and risks. You will develop a deep understanding of customer needs in convenience and translate insights into a long-term strategy.
You will work with external vendors to deliver the category vision, while also partnering with the internal team to create a cohesive assortment strategy. Key elements of this strategy will include enhancing the overall customer experience, driving selection, negotiating with vendors, and creating a category pricing structure. You will have P&L ownership and be responsible for driving revenue and profitability.
In addition to delivering the business goals, you will work across the organization with tech teams, store operations, finance, food safety, design, legal, and product management to build processes that will act as a foundation for the prepared foods business.
These processes will impact customers, integrate with Amazon Go technology, and support in-store procedures.
Key job responsibilities
The successful Category Manager must be able to:
- Owns P&L for category and focuses on strategy for scalable revenue and margin improvement
- Responsible for setting strategic direction for the category that optimizes for long-term success
- Partner with Culinary teams, 3P vendors & distributors, Operations, and Field teams to ensure successful implementation and ongoing production of program.
- Conduct financial analysis of business opportunities, drive internal initiatives to meet and exceed financial goals
- Initiate, structure, negotiate for partnership with both new and existing merchants. Create business plans for new opportunities and develop and execute project plans for the launch, and long-term operations.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams, and communicate with internal and external partners, while meeting tight deadlines
- This role will require a willingness to dive into the details, solve new problems as they arise, be comfortable with ambiguity, and look around corners while always obsessing over customers.
