DESCRIPTION

Amazon's Legal Department is looking for a talented attorney to support our artificial intelligence (AI) public policy, regulatory compliance, and responsible AI strategy for Amazon Web Services (AWS). AWS offers a wide range of AI and machine learning (ML) services for cloud customers, empowering developers to build, train, and deploy AI systems.

In this role, you will work directly with public policy, business, and legal teams to analyze and develop AI policy positions around the world. Duties include: analyzing proposed AI laws, regulations, and guidance and providing feedback on legal and business risks, developing policy positions on responsible use of AI and AI compliance, supporting external policy engagements, and serving as a leader on cutting edge policy, responsible AI, and compliance issues across the development and deployment of AI systems.

You will develop strategies for handling policy and legal issues in creative, business-centric ways, and you will build processes that allow stakeholders to innovate and scale quickly. The successful candidate will be inquisitive, enthusiastic about technology, enjoy working hard and being continually challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations. Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with AI, technology, or policy and regulatory compliance strategy
· Ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Sound and practical business judgment
· Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through and meet deadlines

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 2+ years of legal experience
- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $118,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $195,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
