The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in front-end development, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality user experiences.
Responsibilities:
1. Lead and Mentor a Talented Team: You will manage and mentor a cross-functional team of software engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment. Your leadership skills will be pivotal in guiding the team through complex challenges and ensuring their professional growth.
2. Drive Technical Vision and Strategy: As the SDM, you will play a crucial role in shaping the technical vision and AI strategy for the team. You will work closely with stakeholders, product managers, UX leads and PE’s to align your roadmap with business objectives.
3. Full-Stack Development Expertise: You will leverage your full-stack development experience to oversee the entire lifecycle of feature deliverables and influence the tech stack and testing strategy. Your hands-on expertise will be invaluable in guiding the team's technical decisions and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and maintainable solutions.
4. Agile Methodologies and DevOps Practices: You will champion agile methodologies and DevOps practices within the team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, automated testing, operational excellence and efficient software delivery and release.
5. Collaboration and Communication: This role is highly visible and involves working closely with UX team and product partners. Effective collaboration and communication skills are essential in this role. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including product partners and UX teams, ensuring alignment and seamless integration of efforts.
Basic Qualifications:
* 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
* 5+ years experience leading or developing front end, web or mobile software development using React, TypeScript, HTML and CSS.
* Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
* Experience partnering with UX teams including designers, product and program management teams to influence common design patterns and usability within the product.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
* 5+ years of relevant software development experience, with a strong focus on front-end web or mobile development
* Proven experience leading and managing high-performing engineering teams in a fast paced environment
* Proficiency with launching v1 products with a strong operational mindset.
* Proficiency in programming languages such as TypeScript, JavaScript, React and similar frameworks
* Experience with low-code/no-code platforms, design systems, and component-based architectures is a plus
* Experience working with AI and foundational models is a plus
* Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences

- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of engineering experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
