DESCRIPTION

The Worldwide Dangerous Goods (DG) Business Enablement team is looking for a high achieving, results-oriented Senior Risk Manager. The DG Business Enablement team partners with business stakeholders to develop solutions that help unblock revenue growth or reduce costs, while ensuring the Safe and Compliant transportation of Amazon's dangerous goods products throughout Amazon's global transportation network.

You will plan and execute large scale global programs that will require complex cross-functional work. As part of that, you will define the strategy, requirements, timelines, and recurring mechanisms to track progress of these initiatives. This position involves regular communication with senior management on roadmaps, program updates, risks, and change management. The person in this role is a subject matter expert in the transportation of dangerous goods, and works with business leaders to overcome obstacles to safely and compliantly enable GMS growth and cost reduction efforts.

You need to be comfortable dealing with ambiguity and rolling up your sleeves to dive deeper into problem statements, whilst keeping a high bar on scalability, to expand the solutions you will design in collaboration with other DG functional teams, Legal, Business stakeholders, etc.

The ideal candidate has strong business judgement, and can solve complicated problems with simple, elegant solutions and crisp communication skills. Communication and clear expectation setting will be key with stakeholders also to help bridging any eventual DG knowledge gaps.

Key job responsibilities
- Execute complex multi-disciplinary projects across multiple stakeholder groups
- Identify and lead complex initiatives aimed at growing Amazon GMS and/or reducing the operational cost of compliance
- Ensure regulatory requirements are met for existing and new products/processes by understanding product attributes to drive intended transportation solutions
- Design appropriate mechanisms to work cross-functionally with our legal, transportation, engineering, business and software teams to ensure compliance requirements are known and projects are carried out to delivery
- Provide periodic visibility to senior leaders across Amazon on the progress, learnings and roadmaps/action plans related to the strategic workstreams you will be leading
- Manage bottlenecks, resolve escalations, and drive key roadmap and resource trade-off discussions.
- Develop, articulate, and promote data-driven decisions to solve complex business problems

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Experience building cross-functional partnerships and influencing stakeholders across the organization to act without having a direct reporting relationship
- Experience developing and implementing of standards, policies and programs or equivalent
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills, leveraging structured frameworks

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification
- Experience leveraging technology and implementing lean principles / Six Sigma methodologies to drive process improvements or equivalent
- Master's degree or equivalent
- Experience at consulting firms or equivalent
- Experience in compliance, audit or risk management
- Experience in warehouse operations and logistics or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $109,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
