DESCRIPTION

AWS HealthOmics allows healthcare and life science customers to store, process and analyze petabyte-scale data. Common customer use cases include genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics. Our service offers core capabilities around ingestion of raw sequence data with compression, transformation of genomics variant and annotation data and platform to run bioinformatics workflows at scale.

Service launched at the re:Invent 2022, and since then we have released 14 new features across the AWS HealthOmics service. We are looking for owners on the Analytics team who have a passion for learning, building and operating new services. As a member of the team you will bring (or build) deep knowledge of AWS services and customer workflows. You will use that insight to lead design, development and operation of AWS HealthOmics Analytics systems to support data transformation and ingestion, improve customer query performance and build new analytics compute platform. You’ll work directly with Product Managers, senior SDEs and SDMs through the full development lifecycle from definition to operation. You'll own significant design, implementation and operational excellence decisions that will impact the service for the long-term.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience with Relational and No SQL Databases
- Experience building complex distributed systems that are scalable and highly available using AWS services (Glue, EMR, Athena, DynamoDB, etc.)
- Experience working with Apache Spark and developer tools
- Domain knowledge in the fields of healthcare and genomics
- Experience with ETL data pipelines
- Experience with Native AWS development and operations (CDK, CloudWatch)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
