AWS is looking for an exceptional Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) with planning expertise and a strong delivery record in building trust and influencing through insights, analysis, and system design to advance adoption and effective use of Workforce Planning(WFP). Moreover, this BIE will work in partnership with the core WFP team that requires thought leadership to advance WFP content across AWS. This individual has proficiency in deploying best in class data analytics solutions in conjunction wth workforce, financial, and human behavior insights. This individual will also provide thought leadership and program management against current and future technical capabilities and programs that enable the acceleration of revenue growth, improved operational efficiencies & delivery. Ultimately, the individual will be responsible for analytics and tooling efforts to enable optimized workforce size, location and level in service of predictably accelerating product innovation, and enhancing the customer experience at acceptable cost. Key job responsibilities
• Reports directly to the WFP Product leader, collaborating internally with WFP PMs, Developers, Scientists and Planners, and externally with AWS Fintech, People Analytics, Recruiting Tech, and BizOps on the creation of tools and processes that support the one- and three-year workforce plans in cadence with AWS’ operational cycles.
• Develops collaborative business analytics, reporting, and visualization solutions that bridge our internal software applications to our downstream customers, creating measurable economic impact on AWS.
• Leverages knowledge of planning methodologies, data sources, and best practices. Applies this technical knowledge to invent, evolve, improve, and simplify.
• Drives large-scale workforce planning deliverables that solve significantly complex or endemic problems.
• Creates and Captures the right metrics to influence stakeholders and measure success.
• Delivers compelling data driven designs/solutions and technical guidance serving as a key connector between our software/product and strategy teams.
• Brings a passion for storytelling through the data, and an obsession for improving the customer experience in our products and reports.
A day in the life
As a Business Intelligence Engineer within AWS, you will collaborate internally with WFP PMs, Developers, Scientists and Planners, and externally with AWS Fintech, People Analytics, Recruiting Tech, and BizOps on the creation of tools and processes that support the one- and three-year workforce plans in cadence with AWS’ operational cycles. The ideal Business Intelligence Engineer has a strong sense of ownership, is self-driven and loves breaking new ground.
As a Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) within AWS, you will partner across the WFP group guided by a senior member of the team. You will play a key role on the Workforce Planning Product and Engineering sub-team that builds the technology to scale workforce planning services across the business. You will influence and build the tools and programs serving senior leaders globally and impacting AWS’ future.
The ideal BIE has a strong sense of ownership, is self-driven, loves breaking new ground. You will bring a mix of experience including complex technical program management, data acumen, business intelligence domain expertise, cross functional collaboration, operational planning, and process improvement.

- 4+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience
- Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
- Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
- Experience partnering with both technical (such as software or science) and non-technical (such as strategy or program) teams in a cross-functional environment.
- Bachelor's degree in BI, finance, engineering, statistics, computer science, mathematics, finance or equivalent quantitative field
- Experience with forecasting and statistical analysis
- Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets
- Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift
- Experience in Workforce Planning or related field such as People Analytics, Recruiting, Finance FP&A, or Compensation.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $89,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
