Come work on the Amazon Worldwide Fulfillment Design & Engineering Team! We are looking for an exceptional Principal Reliability Engineer, someone that is excited to work on complex real-world challenges for which a comprehensive scientific approach is necessary to drive solutions. Your investigations will include identifying and mitigating reliability risks resulting in design and implementation of safe and reliable fulfillment center designs.
We are seeking a Principal Reliability Engineer who will be responsible to develop and administer mission-specific reliability Engineering programs for Amazon Fulfillment Facilities.
Key job responsibilities
a. Employing a Failure based approach to develop and implement both analytical and empirical methods for identifying and evaluating reliability risks at the stages of facility design, MHE selection, and deployment.
b. Review, guide, support facility design teams using DFMEA’s, predictive modelling techniques, and test plans.
c. Component, subassembly, subsystem, system qualification and life test programs
d. Lead Design for Reliability (DfR) initiatives with design teams
e. Identifying gaps in current Reliability standards and guidelines, and lead comprehensive studies to redefine “industry best practices” based on solid scientific foundations.
f. Continuously strive to gain in-depth knowledge of your profession, as well as branch out to learn about intersecting fields, such as robotics and mechatronics.
g. Travelling to our various sites to perform thorough assessments and gain in-depth operational feedback, approximately 25%-50% of the time.
h. Regular communication with Executive management regarding status, risks and operational program metrics.
1. 10+ years of relevant work experience in Automotive, Industrial or High-Tech hardware Reliability Engineering roles - Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Science or related field - Strong hands knowledge of reliability prediction software such as Weibull ++.
2. 7+ years in Reliability Engineering/High Tech, Industrial, or Automotive products - Detailed and comprehensive knowledge of environmental, mechanical and electrical reliability tests of consumer electronics
3. Strong analytical and DOE skills - Broad range of failure analysis skills: SEM, EDX, dye and pry, cross-sectioning, x-ray
4. Detailed and comprehensive knowledge of environmental, mechanical and electrical reliability tests of Automotive, Industrial or high-tech products
5. Excellent analysis and detailed communication of escalations to higher management
6. Extensive experience designing reliability test plans and managing the execution of those tests
1. PhD degree in Reliability Engineering or related field - Design, Manufacturing or Materials Engineering experience in Automotive, Industrial, or High-Tech industries
2. Experience developing new test standards in complex product development environments

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $141,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $244,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
