DESCRIPTION

Are you passionate about mitigating security risks and interested in protecting Amazon from sophisticated threats? The CS Security Threat team is seeking an experienced leader to oversee a team of security professionals in identifying threats and how they exploit vulnerabilities that impact amazon’s customers. . This role is crucial in aligning the team’s risk strategy with the Customer Service’s business objectives by always keeping customer trust.

As a manager on the Threat team, you will be responsible for a team of security professionals to understand technical systems and controls with advanced analytics and data-driven insights. You will be responsible for developing strategies and solutions to improve Customer Service’s security posture. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to implement technical and human risk reduction strategies, as well as collaborate with peers from inside of CS Security and tech leaders from across Customer Service.

The ideal candidate has a proven track record of technical leadership and success in delivering complex technology initiatives that drive significant risk improvements. A deep understanding of system architectures, human and technical vulnerabilities, a commitment to teamwork, bias for action, and strong communication skills (both business and technical) are absolute requirements. This person has thrived in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift quickly, and has a demonstrated ability to influence development priorities, design decisions, and business strategy through data-driven risk assessments.

Key job responsibilities
• Raising the bar by managing a team of security professionals that protect Amazon’s customers.
• Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the prioritization of projects which drive the reduction of security risks
• Provide guidance to existing engineering and development teams as to Amazon security best practices to drive risk reductions
• Streamline communications between security and the business to ensure a clear and concise understanding of risks
• Balance near-term deliverables with long-term investments, while raising the security bar for the Customer Service Security Team
• Meet with business partners to gather requirements and communicate capabilities
• Communicate how to align management mission and vision with Amazon information security best practices

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years of experience in technical program management with end to end delivery across large diverse organizations
• 5+ years of experience overseeing roadmap strategy and definition working directly with engineering teams
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated ability to develop long-term strategies and influence leadership decisions.
• Strong understanding of risk assessment frameworks and standards (FAIR, OCTAVE, NIST SP 800-30, ISO 31000, etc)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with cloud computing services
• Have a well-rounded technical background in information security
• Deep knowledge on current security threats, trends, and mitigations
• Experience handling multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment; and having a consistent track record of delivery. Be proactive in removing roadblocks and paving the way for program/project success
• Experience handling business escalations with a data-driven approach to build trust with senior management and development community
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to technical and non-technical audiences

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $147,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $254,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
