Amazon’s North American (NA) Customer Fulfillment (CF) Finance is looking for a Finance Manager on our NA Central Cost team to deliver financial reporting of operational performance for Finance and Operations leadership. Encompassing Amazon’s leadership principles, this role consolidates complex information into a concise story to help navigate conversations that lead to visibility into benefits expenses, as well as strategic decision making for Amazon’s largest variable headcount population.

The Role
In this centralized role, you will help tell the NACF operational performance story through analysis, reporting, and business writing. Our team leverages data to help our business partners understand the risks and opportunities which drive NACF operations. In addition to understanding the drivers of our business, we also help frame the financial narrative to lead the business forward.

A successful candidate will be able to effectively influence business partners, provide accurate reporting against fast deadlines, and manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment. Candidates should demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills as direct interaction with leadership is common.

A typical day in the role may include generating variance analysis and building new partnerships to drive insights into benefits expenses for senior leaders. You may also work on high visibility cross-departmental projects that inform hiring decisions across Amazon’s largest variable headcount population.

About the Organization
The NA Central Cost team is an organization within the NA Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and End-to-End (E2E) Optimization organization with ownership of Central Operational Expenditures (Opex). This team encompasses cost management associated with Under-the-Roof (UTR) operations across NACF, Amazon Logistics (AMZL), Amazon Extra Large (AMXL), North America Sort Center (NASC), and Rapid and Rural Logistics (R2L). The team is organized across key pillars; 1) Controllership – Purchase Order lifecycle (POL) management, 2) E2E Category – driving Global Procurement Organization (GPO) led category savings; agnostic of site type, and 3) Business Partnership, PMO and Analytics; scaling through ownership attainment.

Key job responsibilities
FP&A:
You use solid financial knowledge and business acumen to build financial models and analyses with little guidance and draw conclusions and make recommendations that deliver results, and drive improvements.
You manage development of weekly and monthly financial reviews, forecasting, and reporting models and their continuous innovation and communicating to business partners and senior leadership.
You identify and solve complex data integrity issues and collaborate with stakeholders on resolution, insisting on the highest standards.
You identify the need for improved controls to address risk driven by business, industry, policy, and regulatory changes and proactively propose control solutions.
Lead standardization of network processes to promote consistent and accurate financial reporting including mechanisms to drive adoption. Identifies and implements solutions to resolve, improve, automate, or simplify finance processes.
Proven ability to develop strategic relationships with your business partners and influence decisions.
Makes thoughtful time management decisions independently. Prioritizes work, resolves issues, meets deadlines, and seeks feedback from your manager. Discerns between urgent and non-urgent issues and acts accordingly to solve them.

Communication:
You communicate data in a clear, concise, and unambiguous manner both verbally and in writing.
You adjust communications based on audience and can articulate complex finance issues to non- Finance partners.
You have backbone and challenge business partner plans and assumptions when needed.
You navigate across organizations and identify the right teams to participate in discussions.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- BA or BS in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a highly analytical field (e.g., Engineering, Math, Computer Science)
- 5+ years of finance experience, or Master's degree and 3+ years of finance experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results
- Experience in solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits)
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
- Experience in identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $85,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
